Clarification request

Maybe look through the old forums, I think it's in there somewhere.

Wait until after the election?

Perhaps you're a security threat that needs to be investigated thoroughly?

As a mere citizen, I have no clue whatsoever, these are just my liberal thoughts.

I'll point Pen to this thread. I can wait til after the election, but I just wanted to make sure this was in the law or not. We shouldn't substitute convenience for what's passed as law, after all.

As for the security threat, I am using my typical IP and haven't been anything but honest since taking my self-imposed leave of absence. People can think what they wish, but I know where my conscience sits.

Also, I appreciate the response and the advice.

I tried to look on the old forums but they aren't searchable (?) but I'm sure there's discussion on this there somewhere.

I am unable to find anything after spending some time looking for a proper discussion. When all else fails, I look to the law. And there is no law that supports this ruling.

I'm on my phone, so I can't really search. What ruling are you talking about?

It's okay. I'm talking about the ruling made in this post

Also, for what it's worth, one of our justices made a statement on the matter in this thread. I'm trying to figure out who to go to / talk to. Since the Vice Delegate is getting through some tough real-life stuff, I'd rather not be a bother to her, but I did send her a PM as suggested, you know, if she felt up to it and I wasn't a bother if she could look into it. Though in all honesty I'd much rather she focus on getting better and not some application in a game that's supposed to be played for fun.

So I'm not really sure where to take this from here. Can you offer me a suggestion on where to go / what to do about this?

In terms of what the law says, citizenship applications cannot be processed during the actual election period. While there is nothing legally preventing the Vice Delegate from temporarily putting processing on hold, given past legal precedents and particularly in anticipation of an election, it would be interesting to determine if that meets the Prompt Acceptance clause in the Bill of Rights (Article 1.8 of the Charter). I would assume that delays in application should be accompanied with a reasonable justification (real life issues, security concerns, forum host problem, etc). If so, the processing would have been made promptly, given the circumstances.

Alright. Well the justification supplied was that we were in an election period, yet based on the rules and the current status of the region it's reasonable to assume we're not. But there's no legal justification for it based on Article 1.2.4 of the Charter. As I said earlier, due to RL issues this makes it a rather difficult subject... so I'm not quite sure what to do here.

This may be a matter best suited for the court. While I have my reservations doing so due to RL circumstance, I believe this may be the best course of action. Doing nothing sets bad precedent. Legislative measures seem counter intuitive seeing as members of the court agree that there is no basis for this delay. A quick fix would be reviewing all apps and/or appointing someone to temporarily uphold the forum-side duties of the VD, but I am unaware of the general sentiments of that, nor am I entirely sure of the legality of such a thing.

We'll see.
