Following announced reforms of the Higher Chamber by President Ortega and Vice-President Elliott, Danica Esparza has been elected Lord Speaker of the Higher Chamber and Sara Brookes has been elected Lord Deputy Speaker during a special sitting of the Higher Chamber.

The First President of the Izaakian Republic Dr Stella Blanc was questioned by journalists today on the situation between Hystaigan and Valkyria confirmed that whilst a peaceful outcome would be desirable Izaakia would be putting its support behind Valkyria.
Commentators later pointed out that the former Izaakian Administered Region of Hai Men closely borders Valkyria and many Izaakian businesses based in Hai Men are heavily reliant on Valkyrian Trade.

Following the announcement of reforms to the Higher Chamber, Prime Minister Barrett has nominated Jazmine McCormick for Lord Minister, to be her Higher Chamber counterpart and representative. Likewise, Vice-Prime Minister Ortiz has nominated Winifred Redman for Deputy Lord Minister, to be her Higher Chamber counterpart and representative. Prime Minister Barrett also appointed Welfare Minister Luke Phelps as a Vice-Prime Minister, replacing April Larson who recently stepped down. Prime Minister Barrett subsequently appointed Xanatos Lobachevsky as Welfare Minister, replacing Luke Phelps in the role.

Vice-Prime Minister Phelps has nominated Veronica Hussain for Vice-Lord Minister of the Higher Chamber, to be his counterpart and representative. Prime Minister Barrett has abolished the Ministries of Zero Tolerance, Spin, Holy Wars, Disasters, Sycophancy, Municipalities, Extracartonic Cognition and Progress. In addition to this, she has dismissed Natalia Snow as Minister of Finance and replaced her with Warwick Yoo, Rex Santos as Minister of Culture and replaced him with Jessica Khan, Dr. Jonathan Osterman as Minister of Science and Technology and replaced him with Dr. Kanye Baker, Emanuel Martin as Minister of Foreign Affairs and replaced him with Keanan Webber, Yolanda Goff as Minister of Gadgets and replaced her with Sidney Ward, Ellie Johannsen as Minister of Qaz Heritage and replaced her with Virgil Waters, Victor Ramsay as Safety Minister and replaced him with Alison Montgomery, Taylor van Dyke as Propaganda Minister and replaced him with Kirk Lee and Roger Watts as Immigration Minister and replaced him with Marlon Reyes. Her reasoning for this was that the Higher Chamber reforms required certain Lower Chamber changes.

Dr. Chris Shakespeare has been elected Deputy Speaker of the Lower Chamber in line with the Higher Chamber reforms. Subsequently, Prime Minister Barrett has replaced him as Minister of Anger Management with Max Simmons.

The electoral commission investigating the Liberal Party for electoral financial misconduct have published their findings today. They found the Liberal party guilty on 7 charges of minor financial misconduct and have fined the Liberal Party $800,000.
One of the findings of the report was that 63% of the parties funding in the last election cycle came from former conservative prime minister Ernest Le Rogue which has caused shock both because he is believed to be in a coma since the Christmas disaster at the LMC HQ, and the fact the money has supported a rival political party.

In her first presidential visit to Montacia Dr Stella Blanc partook in her hobby metal detecting on the grounds of the presidential house which has been a royal residence for 4000 years and found a 7th century hoard of gold and silver coins.

President Blanc instructs the government benches that parliamentary and government work may only be carried out between the hours of 10am and 6pm Monday to Friday, with an exception during times of national crisis. The hours are a part of President Blancs plan to connect politics with the real world, giving them time with their families and the general public and also to prevent politicians from experiencing burn out from overwork.

The Izaakian Financial Times posts its first rich list since unification with Montacia and Brodlancia making it the largest list so far, with 158 billionaires.
The richest person in the Republic is former primeminister and Head of La Montaica Corporation is Ernest Le Rogue, a newcomer to the list with a net worth of $102 Billion.
The richest woman on the list is former empress Astrid Stormborn who’s net worth has never been calculated before, with a net worth of approximately £40 billion making her Izaakias 6th richest person.
The youngest billionaire on the list at the age of 27 with a net worth of $1.2 billion is President Stella Blanc. Who’s net wealth has actually fallen slightly in the last year since her appointment first as diplomat to besern and then her Election as president.

Left wing commentators have called this an affront to democracy that a small elite can hold so much wealth and political power, calling Izaakia and elitist oligarchy. Whereas the Liberal party has been keen to point that we shouldn’t criticise success and elitism just means we choose the best.

The Qaz Parliament united yesterday to wish former Prime Minister Darell Hendrickson a happy 70th birthday.

Today, President Ortega, Vice-President Elliott, Prime Minister Barrett, Vice-Prime Minister Ortiz, Vice-Prime Minister Phelps, Speaker Wallace of the Lower Chamber and Deputy Speaker Shakespeare of the Lower Chamber united to lay wreaths at former Prime Minister Guillermo Murphy's grave on what would have been his 63rd birthday. Speaker Wallace reflected that the former Prime Minister was someone often ridiculed by the public but who died a brave death so that Qaz democracy might be guarded.
