Adoption of Procedures

I'm talking about how long we vote on just these procedures... Voting on proposals has to follow the Charter per Tsu's amendment.

Voting can be a bit shorter. Discussion must be longer.

The length of the final voting is determined by the Charter, per Article 11.3. So it's 5 days for constitutional laws and 3 days for regular laws.

I'm just going to motion this to vote. 3 days of voting will give us more time to advertise and prepare.

Quote:Procedures

Chair of the Great Council
1. Farengeto will serve as the Chair of the Great Council.

Debate
2. Following passage of this resolution, a two-week period will be allotted for submission of proposals.
3. Following that two-week period, there will be a three day period of dedicated debate, where no new proposals may be submitted.

Voting
4. Voting on proposals will occur at the same time, following the submission and debate days.
5. Voting times will be 5 days for constitutional laws and 3 days for regular laws, as dictated by the existing Charter.

Passage of Resolution
6. This resolution requires a simple majority to take effect, and will be up for vote for 3 day(s).

For a regular charter amendment, voting is 5 days, correct?

Yes RT.

I'll second.

Then why should a GC be any different? Isn't it, at the most basic level, a charter amendment??

I just don't understand why we are changing the rules we already have, just so we can change the rules... Just doesn't make much sense to me...

This discussion isn't to change the voting on the amendments and all. It's the policies for the procedures of the GC. (i.e. How long should we vote if we want to extend the blessed thing.)

The voting on any legislation that comes from the GC has to follow legislative procedures, so voting time would be included.

If that is the case, then I misunderstood.
