Amendment to Article 6, Section 1 of the Charter, regarding CSS Nominations
#41

God-Emperor

"If the CSS doesn't need new or more members, they Assembly shouldn't vote 'em in. If the number of members isn't specified, that power should lie with the Assembly, not the delegate."

How is the Assembly to know if we need to add another person to the CSS or not? Did I miss something somewhere that specifies that?

As a "former"? CSS member, Escade approached me and I agreed. I never would have thought the positon for myself and was happy/honored that she did.

Also... I think that this is a good idea....

Well -- what if we change point 4 to something along the lines of "If individual wish to nominate themselves or a fellow citizen for the CSS, they may submit the nomination to the Vice Delegate for consideration."?

It would take away the idea of nomination right to vote, allow nominations of other people and give the VD a prime role in deciding if we need more CSS members?"

Members of the CSS are members of the Assembly, and they're welcome to join in the discussion and cast their votes, just like everyone else.

Oh.... Totally didn't see that.... Danke!! Smile But back to my original question how are WE supposed to know if WE need more CSS members? How many do we have now?

I agree with Pen here. The idea that the Assembly will know when there needs to be new members of the CSS seems ... illogical. I get that the CSS members can come and say there needs to be new members or not, but even at that, this isn't a guarantee the Assembly would listen.

We look at the list of members, see whos active (on the forums and/or in game), and base the decision off of that. If we feel we dont have enough active CSS members, then we'll have to go to the Assembly and say so. The Assembly isnt that thick-skulled (in my opinion, anyway) that they wont at least consider the merits of the discussion...

But this also assumes that the Assembly isn't going to approve someone without the need. Which, in of itself, defeats the purpose of having the Assembly approve the person if we are going to allow the CSS to dictate need.

I dont think thats the case, though, Tsu. By your logic, whats the point in having a vote for a cabinet position when (someone in) the assembly nominated them to begin with?

Surely, checks and balances are needed in a democracy.
