Seraph for Delegate

What an excellent question, and yet, in a risky move, I'm going to say that I don't think I am more qualified than either Sam or DM, but rather differently qualified and it's those different qualifications which will ultimately decide what kind of Delegate you get.

For me those qualifications are gameside experience and a particular interest in gameside local-governance; lots of experience in befriending and welcoming new players, with a particular focus on getting folk involved in the myriad different areas that make up NS these days; and the fact that I'm a natural diplomat and conciliator, keen to see all the players in the region get on as much as possible. Also, I am (astonishingly - I mean, it constantly surprises me) well-regarded, well-liked and well-known in this region and I think that puts me in an ideal position to take on the figurehead, head of state part of the role.

I think Sam and DM are excellently qualified for the role too, just in largely different ways. What kind of Delegate does the region want? Only the vote can tell. Smile

If elected, will you be willing/able to "stomp" on WA resolutions when they reach the floor? For those who don't know stomping is a delegate voting as early as possible on a World Assembly resolution in order to maximize the impact of his/her votes. Individual voters and small delegates almost universally vote for whichever side is winning, so a large region placing hundreds of votes on one side or another at the very beginning of voting can be decisive for the success of a resolution.

Obviously this would conflict with your GA policy, but for the SC do you think you could consistently get a consensus from the cabinet and have a decision ready for the moment resolutions drop?

I would be willing in principle, but managing the Cabinet is not part of the Delegate's job description and given that SC resolutions are of particular interest to the MoFA and MoMA, I would hope that they would not require pressure to come to a decision on which way to vote in a timely fashion. Having said that, I suspect that my time zone would work against me on this much of the time, but I would commit to voting as early as possible once a decision has been made.

With activity and turnover down during this election and a number of forum regulars who have WA membership notably not voting so far, I have a question for you.

What would convince you to weigh in on the side of one or other of the candidates in the gameside poll?

Feel free to reply with another question, but, if appropriate, please also ask it in DM's thread. Smile
