Guide to being an Ambassador
So you're either considering becoming an ambassador of the South Pacific or you've just been assigned as one to a region by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and you're wondering what in the world you're supposed to do in the position. This is a short guide to help you get started and be the best ambassador you can be!

What are your duties?

An ambassador is the chief point of contact between the South Pacific and one of our embassy regions or allies. That means, as ambassador, you are responsible for keeping tabs on developments in your assigned region, and making sure the South Pacifican Ministry of Foreign Affairs is aware of them. You are also responsible for presenting yourself in your assigned region as the representative of the South Pacific and making yourself open to any questions about the South Pacific, as well as facilitating any discussions between the South Pacific and your assigned region.

Starting off
  1. The first thing to do is to create a puppet nation and move it into your assigned region. This allows you to receive their regional telegrams and read their RMB, so you can be informed about what’s going on in the region.
  2. Join both your assigned region's Discord server and regional forums, if they have both. You can usually find links to both of these on the region's World Factbook Entry, but you can also find these links in Ambassador Assignments.
  3. Introduce yourself on both platforms, telling the appropriate officials what your ambassador nation is and that you're the new ambassador from the South Pacific, as well as a little bit about you yourself.
  4. If your assigned region has a section on their forum for embassies, ask or apply for an embassy section or embassy thread for the South Pacific, and introduce yourself there too.
  5. If there are spam games or other public events going on on their forums, you can involve yourself a bit in those to start participating in the region.
  6. On Discord, start chatting with the region's residents and get to know them!
Continuing
  • The essential piece of being an ambassador is just to continue to chat, stay involved, and keep tabs on what’s happening in the government and the rest of the region. Then, report back to the South Pacifican Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the News from Abroad thread and the #mofa-ambassadors-hall channel on our regional Discord server every few days or when there’s something important to know about.
  • When the South Pacifican Ministry of Foreign Affairs sends out a notification on Discord in the #mofa-ambassadors-hall channel to distribute something to our embassies, you should post it to your region -- on their forums, Discord, and Regional Message Board, whichever you deem most appropriate and applicable -- as soon as possible, preferably within a day.
  • If an official from your assigned region wishes to talk to the government of the South Pacific, you should help to put them in contact with the Minister of Foreign Affairs. If your region is one of the several with which we share treaties or alliances, make sure to familiarize yourself with the treaty between us and your assigned region.
  • If you want to be a SuperAmbassador™, you can also work on organizing little events between the South Pacific and your region, like a communal games night or something!
