[PASSED] A1906.01: Amendment to Articles VI, VII and VIII of the Charter

Legislators,

A proposal has been introduced to amend Articles 6, 7 and 8 of the Charter of the South Pacific.

The debate thread can be found here.

A motion and a second have been received to bring this amendment to a vote.

As this is a constitutional law amendment, the voting period is five days and will require a three-fifths supermajority of those voting in favour to pass, with the exception of abstentions. The vote will end on the 26th of JUNE, 2019, at 03:30 a.m. (UTC).

(5) The date, time, and manner of electing the Delegate will be set by the Assembly in a general law, but must include the participation of the gameside community.

VIII. HIGH COURT

(2) The procedure for the appointment of the justices will be defined in a general law by the Assembly.

(3) Procedures for the conduct of criminal trials and civil cases will be defined in a general law by the Assembly.

Legislators,

Please be advised that the vote to amend Articles 6, 7 and 8 of the Charter of the South Pacific has PASSED.

The final tally is 30 in favour, 7 in opposition, with 11 abstaining, for a total of 48 votes.

The vote was passed with 81% voting in favour, exceeding the requirement for a three-fifths supermajority of those voting with the exclusion of abstentions.
