On Qaweritoyu - Ryccian Federation Complaint
#1

Members of this World Forum, the Ryccian Federation comes today to bring the issue of Qaweritoyu's human rights abuses to light. As a neighbour of the aforementioned nation, the Ryccian Federation is alarmed and outraged regarding the actions of the Qaweritoyu government over these past few years. Many crucial and defining moments of the degradation of civility in the country were the re-introduction of slavery, which was stopped by the previous President, who may rest in peace, and the introduction of geronticide, otherwise known as the killing of the elderly. Furthermore, the government has banned the internet, a restriction on the right to free speech, and the barbarism that is known as corporal punishment has been legalized. The judicial system has been reduced to a mere mockery of the very word "justice". The press is tightly controlled by the Qaweritoyu regime, stifling the freedom of information in the country. Basic freedom of movement out of the country is prohibited. Reproductive rights are non-existent, as sexual relations and unlicensed parenthood are forbidden. Finally, Qaweritoyu has mandated that all of its citizens practice the Catholic faith and has introduced a theocratic regime, a severe violation of the religious rights of its citizens.

The Ryccian Federation cannot tolerate these brazen attacks on basic decency anymore. Thus, we bring this issue to the World Forum so the international community may act swiftly and decisively. Otherwise, our government shall need to resort to unilateral action.

The frost empire hears these concerns and would like the Qaweritoyan Government to explain themselves. Furthermore, the Empire asks Ryccia to bring evidence to back up their alarming claims before threatening an invasion.

Ambassador, please type for this World Forum phrases such as "Qaweritoyu theocracy", "Is the internet banned In Qaweritoyu", or "Qaweritoyu elderly killing" into your cellular phone and do tell us the results. You may also direct yourself to Qaweritoyu online news outlets, Qaweritoyu official government sites, and perhaps even contact your own Ministries that collect this information from across the globe. If you require more scholarly research, multiple universities, our foreign service and the intelligence services in Ryccia alone have published papers regarding the human rights situation in Qaweritoyu.

To the Forum, I feel like it is my duty to let you know that since the new election in Qaweritoyu, mandatory Catholicism has been removed by the new president, according to news articles. While I hope that this would satisfy the honorable Frost ambassador's request for concrete proof, I would also hope that the honorable Ryccian representative sees this and decides to patiently wait to see what the next steps are?

Wait? Wait more and continue to see a neighbour in our vicinity in this state? What further patience could be had? No, we demand action from this World Forum, or else it proves itself useless as a global organization to the Ryccian Federation. This body is for the world to work together to find solutions to the problems that ails the world itself, for the globe to work together in the spirit of brotherhood, cooperation and solidarity, not to patiently wait an eternity to do nothing!

May I remind this Assembly that the Ryccian Federation has raised these issues before? What did the World Forum do then? Absolutely nothing! You know what passed, however? What is of more importance to this Assembly than legitimate human rights abuses? A resolution on country codes! If this World Forum is incapable of dealing with serious issues and take action, then what is the purpose of this entity? To be a glorified husk of good feelings, a glorified pat on the back, a glorified feel-me-good? The Ryccian Federation has gone to this Assembly to present a serious grievance, an indignity so brazen and so shocking, that it is worthy of global action. Instead, what do we see? Nothing. To tell us to wait more is, with all due respect to the Fihami representative, ludicrous to the Ryccian Federation!

To the honorable Ryccian representative, you make perfect sense in that this World Forum should stand for human rights abuses. It needs to be able to take action against injustices committed. It needs to be able to act swiftly and promptly.

I only mentioned to wait because it had appeared that the newly elected president was undoing the work of the administration. But, it took us all too long to even hear about the injustices committed, and that is everyone's fault. Mine, yours, and every other honorable member state of this Forum. If we are to talk about swift action, then I would recommend paying better attention to ALL world news, not just one or two nations.

“This Forum is not a rubber stamp for your country invade other sovereign states Ambassador of Ryccia. The unpredictability and instability of Qaweritoyu is a trait similar to your own undemocratic state.
So Ambassador if you have something productive other than saber rattling the Empire is all ears. Furthermore we recommend that this deliberative body place indefinite economic sanctions on Qaweritoyu for the time being.” Responded Kei-Mazen

May the honourable representative of the Frost Empire be informed that we have taken this case to the World Forum to prevent exactly this outcome? And may the honourable representative be aware that the Ryccian Federation is a democratic nation?

The recommendation you have made just now is the action we wish to see. The world community discussing on how to pressure Qaweritoyu as one to give up their abhorrent perversions of human rights, for it is a moral imperative. The Ryccian Federation agrees to the Frost Empire's proposal of economic sanctions. We further propose that this World Forum freeze the accounts of the Qaweritoyu government abroad and the personal accounts of the members of the Qaweritoyu elite.

Democratic in what sense Ambassador? Your current government is a military junta that overthrew a democratic albeit heavily aggressive regime. Let it be known for the records that the Empire does not recognize the Ryccian Federation's so called claim of being a democratic state until free and fair elections are held. That being said, We do agree with their proposal to freeze Qaweritoyan assets abroad in addition to sanctions.

The Ryccian constitution provides for the President to dissolve Parliament and call for new elections, which the President did to secure the nation against the jingoistic factions of the previous regime. The elections are scheduled for January this year. However, the Prime Minister defied this order, encouraging sedition and treason by ordering troops loyal to him to resist the constitutional mandate. Thus, the President was forced to respond and keep the constitutional order with military force.

Fundamental human rights are guaranteed. We allowed those who opposed this move to protest in the streets, and this they did. Those who are opposed to our temporary government are permitted to speak out with no repercussions.

So, yes, Ambassador, we remain a democratic nation despite the circumstances. Free, sovereign and democratic.
