Okay, this is a completely seat-of-the-pants effort at starting some cross-genre fantasy character RP/storytelling going. I came up with the title in the spur of the moment and what I'm about to write I haven't thought about before, bar a few of the ideas on the Polynesian theme I'd mentioned in another thread...
Humans have lived on the world of Henua for thousands of years, since the first of the ancient Atua, the ancestor gods, drifted across the great ocean of stars. Once they lived in island communities, but now many of these have joined into the great churning steam metropolises of the East, chief amongst which is Nefunuku - the hill of mist - ruled over by the secretive and heretical Tangata (bird-man) cult. But the humans have never been alone and have lived alongside and fought against many other races across the millennia - most notably the sea-warrior Alfir whose fear-inducing dragonships raid from warring kingdoms across the isles of Midgard; the usually peaceful Lucharacháin, whose monasteries across the mountains and forests of the islands of Tír na hÓige are dedicated to a strange God of contradictions, both one and many, dead and alive; and the secretive, bird-like Tengu with their strict codes of honour and their deadly assassins. A delicate balance exists between the races, but no balance can hold steady for ever. So, basically, this is a mixed-fantasy world with, as yet, no map, which gives us the freedom to worldbuild as we go. The races listed above (semi-steampunk Polynesian Humans, the old-norse-viking-elf Alfir, the Irish-celtic-christian-dwarf Lucharacháin and the Japanese-samurai/ninja Tengu) are not exhaustive. Feel free to make your own with your choice of (ideally real-world) language and culture. There's also no reason why you couldn't be a half-breed of some kind or one race brought up in the culture of another. We will each create a character with the intent to start them in or around Nefunuku to begin with (another reason not to worry about a map), but rather than RP traditionally, I'd like us to try storytelling more collaboratively, with us each writing a scene or section of a scene from our character's perspective, but including other player characters if appropriate. Another nice touch is to give your character a hexcode colour and all dialogue can be written that way. I'll attach a very old RP in the TSPRP Discord server for you to see what that looks like in practice. It does work - you just have to be considerate and get to know the other writers. Now, my character: Name: Laki Gender: Male Race: Human Age: 24 Colour: #009966 Description: Tall and slender, but wiry. Brown hair with naturally golden highlights. Simple, black family tattoos cross his arms and back. Bio: Laki has spent his life on a small, one-village island outside of the influence of the metropolises, farming shellfish on the deep slopes that surround his sea mount home and as such he's an excellent swimmer and intelligent, if uncultured by the standards of the cities. He has come to Nefunuku to seek answers to a mystery he's not yet ready to discuss. Please be brave! P.S. feel free to use google translate or other resources for names, etc. We don't have to be accurate - it's about flavour. P.P.S. In case it's not abundantly clear - this is a world of islands, just like our beloved South Pacific Ocean - but sizes and types will vary, as suggested above. P.P.P.S. Gender: None Race: Tengu Age: 22 Colour: #000080 Description: Hane is short and pale-skinned, with dark, warm eyes and long black hair, streaked through with equally long peacock feathers. (No wings... yet?) Bio: Hane comes from a long line of proud and perfectionist Tengu artisans. They are extremely knowledgeable and precise on matters of clock-making and the cooking of time-consuming and tiny Tengu meals, but naive on anything unrelated to these. Hane has come to Nefunuku through dissatisfaction with their own gods and fascination with the rumors of the Tangata.
Name: Vannah
Gender: Female Race: Human Age: 19 Colour: #FB3C3C Description: A shorter (1.58m) woman, with chestnut brown, shoulder-length hair and (artificial, via dyed contacts) cherry-red eyes. While having a small-medium build, she has a decent bit of muscle. She often wears the average clothes of an engineer, including goggles that work with her circular prescription glasses. Bio: Vannah's a woman who's lived near the metropolis nearly her entire life. She's a scholar, particularly interested in the metropolis' energy supply and how to maximize its efficiency, and has learned a great deal of physics and engineering in her studies as an intern with several of the highest members of the metropolis' energy and engineering authorities, and often is regarded as a prospective genius in the field. Having always lived in Nefunuku (an odd one out, due to the fact that she and her family are human), she hopes to discover the leads to prosperity of the world, whatever may lead her there.

Nefunuku is a human city, though, I should clarify. The Tangata Cult is based on the Tangata manu of the mythology of Rapa Nui and was a later religious innovation over the traditional ancestor/moai worship. In this it'll probably be something more sinister, but whatever it is, the population of Nefunuku would still be predominantly human, I think. I'm getting excited! Name: Ember Rose
Gender: Female Race: Falkismanne (Generally small humanoid beings (from the size of a Kestrel to that of the Gyrfalcon), with a wide range of feather color and patterns, 2 pairs of wings, tail feathers, crests, talons. Perhaps I'll sketch something out and post in discord) Age: 2 (they grow somewhat slower than birds but much quicker than humans, this is about adolescence (15-18 human years comparatively) Color: #ffad16 Description: Ember Rose is a fairly average-sized Falkismanne, standing about 40cm tall, her Primary wingspan is 1.1m wide, while her Secondary wingspan is 81cm wide. She weighs around 150g. The bare skin she has is fairly tanned. Her plumage is white at the base, with the larger feathers sporting a light orange color fading up to a light red. Her crest feathers are white as well, the longer "hair" feathers up with that same orange-fade-to-red. Her eyes are a bright amber-ish orange color. She wears a light white tank-top with an exposed back (bc wings), and shorts of a very light composition. She generally paints her fingernails and her talons red or orange. She is proficient with fire elemental magics, which is unusual for her kind, who are normally aligned with Wind and Ice magics, if at all. Bio: Ember Rose was born in the Falkismanne city of Eldur Ljos, a village in the sky basically. The other villagers had always treated her as a stranger at best due to her proficiency with magic, especially fire magics, and her very shy, quiet, reflective demeanor. A very curious yet lost soul, she left home early to explore the world recently, armed only with a Vaengjakindurverja's staff. (The Vaengjakindur are basically really really fluffy sheep-like creatures but smaller, and winged). Ember Rose is very fond of philosophy and art, as she had learned from her journey already. She found her way to Nefunuku by accident essentially, and has no real goals other than exploration and "discovering who she is" sort of thing.

I've finally taken some time to create something. Don't know if it'll fit in with the story, but here's attempt 1.
Name: ?????? Alias: Miles & Suu Gender: ?????? Race: ??????? Age: ??????? Color: #6600ff Description: ?????? currently assumes the appearance of a fairly average-sized adult human male (M1) and human child (M2) capable of acting independent from its adult form. M2 is mute while M1 is capable of speech. Bio: ????? is unaware of when it was born or gained sentience. Death followed in its wake. Always a step behind it. The other species it encountered almost always treated it with fear and hostility. Despite trying its hardest to maintain a friendly demeanor, it was always forced to fight. It was a lost soul, but it learned to survive. Feasted on its enemies as it explored the world, taking in their memories, their form and their weapons. ???? now poses as a human merchant and young apprentice to avoid violent conflicts. ???? eventually stumbled onto Nefunuku after drifting for so long, and has adopted the alias Miles and Suu. ???? goals and interests are still a mystery as it has focused on surviving the harsh world. Gender: None Race: Zvoami Age: Unknown Colour: #860809 Description: Ęeel is of average size for a Zvaomi spawn (1.93m), and has a mass of 50.82kg. Its skin has a dark red appearance, signifying it’s specialised in the class of necromancy. Zvoami don’t have eyes (or eyeholes for that matter), but instead rely on external stimuli to navigate. Although being powerful mages, Zvoami are very vulnerable to physical damage. Ęeel is usually seen wearing black robes. Bio: Coming from a respected breed of water mages, Ęeel was expected to follow in the footsteps of its brethren. Ęeels parents (caretakers) noticed its skin started turning red at the age of 5. Ęeels was sent to the fire mages, but it soon became clear Ęeel was a necromancer. When Ęeel reached 80, it was promoted to mage, and when it became 175 years old, Ęeel became a master of necromancy. Having fought numerous battles against the kingdom of Adezi, Ęeel’s kingdom ultimately fell to the Adezi’s use of forbidden magic. Ęeel now travels the islands of Aurora [note: i don’t know what the island group(s) are/is actually called, so i just went with this], in the hopes of finding something (or someone) strong enough to defeat the Adezi, and avenge its brethren.
