A better way forward
Hey. I’m Prarie. I’ve been in TSP for almost 3 years now - time flies! During that time, I’ve always been (or have tried to be) pretty active in the Legislatorship. I’ve served in a variety of advisory and leadership positions within the Ministries of Regional Affairs and Foreign Affairs. But I don’t want to make this campaign about me. I want to make it about who it’s actually affecting - you guys. TSP. the South Pacific. The best region in NationStates. And how we can all perform to the best of our abilities, and craft a better way forward for all of us. And how do we achieve this? Well, through a lot of stuff, but I have some in mind. And they’re the core pillars of my campaign - Leadership. Transparency, and Integration. Leadership The biggest involvement leadership has in my campaign is in foreign policy. TSP is highly respected throughout the NSverse. But we can do even better. I’ll work with the Mister of Foreign Affairs and the rest of the cabinet to craft policy that TSP can be proud of. I know how great we are, and I’m sure all of you do too. I want to make sure the rest of NationStates knows it. How do we do this? By utilizing our defender values. Defenderism is rooted in moral good - defending people who are having their hard work being taken away by people who want to have some fun. I think most NationStates players were brought up by their parents the same way that I was brought up by mine - To always do the right thing, and be kind to one another. We can help spread these values by doing cultural events and enacting a WA bloc with regions that share these values. I will assist the Minister of Foreign Affairs in doing these things. Another way to spread these values is to talk to the press - NationStates Today is a great journalistic organization that many TSPers are currently involved in. I’ll try to get TSP policy to the forefront of NS news (in good ways only, of course), so we can display our leadership to the rest of the NSVerse. Leadership also plays into domestic policy too - great leaders can show newer nations how to do things in TSP. I’ll get into that more in-depth later on... Transparency Transparency is a hallmark of every respected democracy. Roavin and his administration have set a really high bar on this, and I applaud them for it. I’ll continue Roavin’s weekly AMAs, and I’ll encourage other ministers to do them regularly too. Gameside, Discord, and Forumside. Cabinet twitter is another awesome thing that Roavin made a hallmark of his administrations - I’ll make sure that the Cabinet is putting out at least one Cabinet Twitter post a week. I’ll also make sure to stay on top of Sunshine Act releases so South Pacificans can expect excellent transparency from the Cabinet. Integration Integration has been the main focus for a lot of Cabinets recently - and it’ll be one of mine, too. I think many South Pacificans, like myself, are concerned about our integration success. Not enough people are running for positions, especially Cabinet positions. First, we integrate new ministries. I think the Ministry of Home Affairs proposal is excellent and will make a great addition to the Cabinet. Second - I think a WA Ministry is a long time overdue. Not only will it add to SWAN and it’s effectiveness, but the World Assembly is where many players start. If we create a WA Ministry, we can integrate more players from the gameside into discord, and then into the forums. A big part of what I want to do with integration is to make the next generation of leaders in TSP. I’ll do this by making sure every Cabinet minister has a newer player that they mentor, and I’ll encourage my cabinet advisors to do so as well. I’ll also make sure to have 2 Cabinet interns that can learn from the way the Cabinet works and what to do in the hardest part of the Cabinet’s job - responding to situations quickly. Surrounding Myself with Experts I know I’m not particularly experienced in Cabinet matters. That’s why I’ll commit to 4 experienced Cabinet advisors to help advise me on the most important situations. So, some core policy plans of mine-

The Assembly has shown a clear desire for increased involvement and leadership in the Defender sphere. What makes you the right person to lead us in that effort?
What does an effective Prime Minister look like? What do you plan to do if you are not elected? Above all else, I hope to be a decent person.

Thanks for the questions! 1. I'll admit - I haven't always been fully pro-commiting to an ideology. But in the past 6 or so months since I ran for MoFA last, I've really learned a lot about defenderism and why we as TSP are defender. I'm fully committed to defenderism and defender values, and I intend to work with the MoFA to spread those values throughout the NSverse and keep regions safe from those nasty little raiders, in part by creating a WA bloc to increase our influence in the WA and Security Council. 2. An effective Prime Minister makes the region better. They work with all their cabinet ministers to keep TSP active and firing on all cylinders. They use the people around them to make decisions about events around the NSVerse that keep TSP's reputation and sovereignty intact. 3. I intend to work with the Cabinet to get stuff done to make TSP better. I'm also working on my bill-proposing skills, so you'll probably see some stuff by Prarie in the Assembly whether I get elected or not. Midwesterner. Political nerd. Chipotle enthusiast.

Past governments have continuously struggled with Integration. What do you intend to do differently in that department to succeed where others have failed?

I think a big part of integration is just reaching out - we've done that in the past, but we should try to take it to another level. I think that a mentorship program is a really good start, and we've seen some of that in the past. I think just reaching out is essential too - part of a mentorship program would be to make sure everyone who joins Discord gets someone reaching out to them directly, in DMs, within the first 30 minutes of their time in the server. I think that integrating the RMB would be incredibly effective, too - there are dozens of RMBers who are regularly active but aren't legislators, and we can use the Ministry of Home Affairs to reach out to them, along with regular AMAs on the RMB. Nationstates is, inherently, a political simulation game. So it's not like its a lost cause to try to get RMBers to be involved in forumside government. Midwesterner. Political nerd. Why do you think that you can make sufficient change to the integration system as PM? Wouldn't you be better suited to do that as MoRA?
Aga/Eunopiar
Mostly does boring things.
Yes, I enjoy hearing the MoHA bill being mentioned by a PM candidate.
You’ve got my vote.
The future of this region depends on how seriously we take being defender. “Small steps” aren’t it. I’ve been skeptical before about your capabilities, but I’m willing to see what the past 8 months since I retired from politics has done in terms of growth and capability.
