Glen and the CRS
#11

To be clear, I don't think there's a need to get into a pissing match about how frequently/often someone endotarts.

In fact, we had an entire discussion that the CRS — by design! — needs to balance a mix of endotarting abilities with other skills. Glen is still up over all other nations in the region — and significantly above the endorsement cap — so I'm really unsure what this flak is about.

Glen is barely more than fifty endorsements above the cap and twenty-five above the highest non-CRS member. That is not 'significantly above the cap' when our stable CRS members are at 300 above the cap. If the CRS believes that 300 is approximately the appropriate distance between the average CRS member and the cap, then Glen is not "just fine" right now. If the CRS believes that 50 is an acceptable distance to the cap, then it should be raising the endorsement cap now so we can increase influence all around.

The flak is about the fact that the CRS seems to think it's okay to say "hey, by the way, not like it's a big deal or anything, but we've just decided to actually bring back Glen. Nothing to worry about, though, we don't need to do anything about it, we're sure it won't cause any problems." Um, yes, we do need to do things about it if that's really your decision. Glen is effectively a new member of the CRS at his current endorsement level and needs to be promoted as such. He needs to endotart as a new member, just like Jay and Penguin have been doing. Once he's covered 90-100% of the region, yes, then he can sit back and endorse once a week like the rest of you. But "oh, it's okay if he just sits where he is right now, he's not under the endo cap" is not okay if we want to continuously make progress in our endorsement culture. We're not back in 2016 when it was just fine for the CRS to let endorsement counts slide a bit because no one had more than 400.

Just because he's a returning member doesn't mean he should be doing anything different from Jay and Penguin when they were at 600 endorsements.

I don't know why you have the impression that anyone believes that. Glen is not a new member, he already knows how things work. I don't see why he shouldn't be given the benefit of the doubt that he knows how to tart.

Lots of angry rhetoric here that I’m not sure is serving any purpose.

My endorsement activity can be tracked here: https://www.nationstates.net/page=activi....sandaoguo

When I returned to full duty, I had around 1,100 people to endorse. Not going to happen overnight, but it will happen. Seems a bit early to be raising the pitchforks, right?

Somy — there's no requirement for a CRS member to even be above the endorsement cap. At best we can argue that a CRS member is required to have 400 endorsements to maintain eligibility for for CRS membership, but that's it.

I think it's prudent to point out that the members of the CRS are members because they've been here for a while and are trusted. And, like everyone, we too have commitments outside of the game. Expecting someone is going to be able to drop everything and do nothing but endorse nations for a span of time is unrealistic.

I'll also point out it's not the CRS's job to support our "endorsement culture"; our job is to make sure you're not couped. Those are vastly different things and while we've supported SWAN and done as much as we can to help, let's not get it twisted about what the role of the CRS is.

In any case, my previous post wasn't to dismiss your concerns about Glen's tarting, but we're all acknowledging that we all know he's working on it so there's no need to stress now.
