Hi y'all, should we make an announcement about WZAU now that we have it? What should the actual body of this text be etc? Any ideas/much better drafts would be appreciated.

Alright, I know that we do have a majority approval on this, but I would like to get an official cabinet vote on the plan going forward with WZAU.  

Along with the announcement (will post in quotes), we should also present to the assembly with a plan in place, not just go in gung-ho about it.  

I think we should take it in phases:

PHASE 1: Military rule

I will remain delegate in WZAU, there to bonk lards.  At this point in time, our main focus should be on recruiting people and foster a community.  They will essentially live under the charter and TSP's rules basically, while talking about drafting a constitution of their own that the new natives will find acceptable to them.  Perhaps they even enjoy the same rights as TSP citizens etc.  Basically, annexing them as a territory of TSP would be the most appropriate road to take?  

PHASE 2: Transition

Once the native governance is decided, we carefully transition the delegacy to the chosen person, keeping a military presence as we help them transition to a stable governance, helping them along the way with anything, keeping good relations, etc.  This shouldn't take two long.  

PHASE 3: Separation

And then, once this is complete, we retreat, and separate WZAU and TSP as two separate regions, perhaps we maintain very close ties with them and become friendly etc.  This would be my hopes, that WZAU would continue to prosper and share close relations with us and become stable, harder to just take on.  Like the other warzones at the moment.  And the native governance there breaks the record for being the longest-lasting.  

The South Pacific Special Forces recently liberated the region of Warzone Australia from the spammy, puppet-filled region of Lardyland. Warzones are a special category of region, created by the game itself, that are meant to be conquered and re-conquered. That’s certainly how Lardyland was using Warzone Australia — as a trophy and spam region, with only 10 nations and no native community to speak of. 

Now that the Special Forces have removed Lardyland from the region, it has the opportunity to develop a real community. But, given the nature of warzones, it’s likely to be quickly re-invaded by Lardyland or another small raider group if the SPSF leaves. Therefore, I think it’s appropriate that we formally annex the region and support it in order to foster growth. In doing so, we would not be acting against the will of anyone — save, of course, the previous invaders.

The Cabinet has already assented to such an operation. According to the Charter, the Assembly must also express its permission:

The military may not colonize or annex any region without the express permission of the Cabinet and the Assembly, by majority vote of both chambers.

This is why I come to you today, in the hopes that we can 1. Limit the amount of influence that Lardyland has across NationStates and 2. To bring to the warzone democracy and freedom, and allow it to flourish as a region rather than remain a trophy for Lardyland.

We are hoping to do this in three steps:  A military protectorate phase that will see us recruiting and governing a growing native population until the population is decently large and their own regional governance system is drafted.  Then, the native-appointed delegate will take power, and once that delegacy transition is secured, TSP moves out.  Then, when the final transitions are finished, WZAU is made independent of TSP once again.  

And, if we are agreed to this, someone should probably draft an assembly resolution that we can vote on and present to the assembly along with that text wall.
