I may be a little late to the party with this, but what if I were to create a hateful ideology that demands I must hate cheeseburgers? Does that mean I cannot be a legislator? The 'hateful ideology' part isn't specific, and, therefore, prone to abuse.

Yeah, but laws can be interpreted as they read. If I say hateful ideology, that can mean hating anything. So I would have to concur with Rabbit here. Laws like this should leave little to interpretation and should, rather, clearly define what is being banned.

But does the law know what the difference is? It's an actual part of the law that can be exploited. Sure, we may know the difference, but on paper this can mean any hateful ideology.

The issue with these types of laws is that just because someone one wants to PLAY a nazi douchecanoe, doesn't mean IRL they ARE a nazi douchecanoe. Plenty of people are horrid IC and wonderful OOC. As has already been mentioned, this is SO full of loopholes that it really can't be put into Game.  I don't agree with this at all.

The issue with these types of laws is that just because someone one wants to PLAY a nazi douchecanoe, doesn't mean IRL they ARE a nazi douchecanoe. Plenty of people are horrid IC and wonderful OOC. As has already been mentioned, this is SO full of loopholes that it really can't be put into Game.  I don't agree with this at all.

I agree, Pen - I know where Rabbitz is coming from, and I agree with him that it needs to be made more clear, and that it shouldn't be in the law at all, the Community Standards, rather. I was just calling him out on his bending of "hateful ideology."

However, people who play nazis IC should absolutely be banned. If you have the guts to RP as a Nazi, then you're probably toeing the Nazi line, and "it's just RP" is an excuse for many actual  Nazis to get into the community.

We discussed something like this in the mod channel and whilst we decided it was difficult to decide where to draw the line on the rp issue, it was clear that we needed to find a way to prevent the blurring of IC-OOC chat in places like the RMB and Discord. A player always RPing an authoritarian nation in the midst of OOC chat, without tongue firmly in cheek (Amerion!), is problematic, for example.
