October 2020: Forum+Discord Ministry offices
#11

MoM has been set up on Discord.

MoC scaffold has been set up on Discord. I did not create the project channels, those can be created on demand. As roles, I created a Member and a Leadership role for now (I don't think a deputy director needs a separate role, as they're functionally equivalent to MoC Leadership + Junior Cabinet)

Ministry of Engagement will have a work request channel where other ministries can request graphics, telegram, or dispatch management service. Please specify what roles in your ministry do you want to have access to that channel, thanks.

This seems like it would lead to one of two being barely used. Wouldn’t it be simpler for any senior Cabinet-only discussions, where for whatever reason you don’t want anyone else to be able to see it, to take place in the SitRoom on the forums?

With two separate channels, I think what we’ll end up seeing is that either a) advisors/deputies channel is iced out and thus seldom used, or more likely b) the “seniors only” channel is barely used, as ministers want advisors and deputies to give their opinions. All other discussion would most likely be ministry-specific and take place in the ministry staff channels, right?

Just a few suggestions, I think that the Cabinet should have access to the management channels of each ministry, and some of these "public" channels should only be accessible to those who are masked as citizens. I don't think many visitors would care much about some of these channels.

I thought the cabinet already has default access to everything here. Yes, public channels here are public only to citizens. I will clarify that.

I've now created the non-public channels.

Regarding #work-requests, if that's a general thing, wouldn't that be better placed under the Government halls where Cabinet office etc. are? And going further, since Swifty also proposed a coop channel, maybe a single government coop channel in some fashion may be appropriate afterall.

Regarding #theme-project, #general-dispatches, #wiki-project, #recruitment-telegrams: I feel like these would better be served as forum threads for discussion rather than "one-off" channels, unless you feel like these would persist and be active?

What I've done so far is to give the PM access to all channels. I can easily change this to include Ministers, whatever the incoming Cabinet prefers.
