The Federation of Cordia

The flag of Cordia, nicknamed the Blue, Angles, and Cross. The white angles represent the four original Cordian clans, united in a peace which is represented by the central blue cross. The blue boxes represent the sea, and their location behind the crosses represents how the sea has been a backdrop to the biggest events in Cordian history, and the similarity in color between the cross and the boxes represent how the sea played a major role in the unification of Cordia. The cross has always been a symbol of Cordia, used in nearly all major flag and symbols.

The coat of arms of Cordia. Created the year of the nation's founding, featuring prominent symbolism at that time. The symbolism of the red and black quarters is, unfortunately, lost to history, but we know that the white raven is part of an ancient Cordian legend in which a Cordian King, said to be assisted by a white raven with the power of speech, saved his lands by sailing around an invading army and sacking their capital city.

The Cordian Government
The Executive
The highest level of the Executive Branch of Cordia is composed of President Kathrine Wolff, her secretaries, and their respective departments. The second level is the four Divisional governments, and the lowest level is the municipal level. The President serves for six years and up to two terms.

The Legislative
The Legislative Branch of Cordia contains two houses: the Jafnthing and the Althing. The Jafnthing contains ten representatives from each Division, and the Althing contains 270 representatives, with the makeup by Division changing every six years according to population. There are elections every two years, where all Althing positions are up for grabs. Jafnthing representatives are reelected every four years, with five per Division being up for grabs every election. The major parties are:

The Labor Party: Pursues a social democratic agenda, but not a socialist party. Easily the biggest party, and dominates the Althing. On the other hand, most of its representatives are from a surge last election, which has yet to hit the Jafnthing. (108 AT, 13 JT) Color: Orange
The Center Party: The second-largest party, and obviously, as centrist party. It tends to ally with the Conservative Coalition in the Jafnthing, making life hard for the Labor Party. (65 AT, 9 JT) Color: Purple
The Conservative Coalition: The third-largest party, this is really a coalition of all the Cordian conservative parties. (62 AT, 13 JT) Color: Blue
The Socialist Party: A party that want full-on socialism in Cordia. Tends to ally with Labor for lack of a better option, but is distinct from that party. (26 AT, 4 JT) Color: Dark Red
The Green Party: A politically neutral party that allies with anyone, as long as it's good for the environment. Tends to lean left, but allies most with the centrists on non-environmental issues. (9 AT, 1 JT) Color: Green
The Judicial
The Judicial Branch of Cordia contains four levels: Municipal Court, Divisional Court, National Court, and Capital Court. Appeals move cases to a higher court level, and cases may start in higher courts depending on scale. Capital Court is the supreme court of Cordia. It sets national precedents that are hard to contradict. It contains nine justices, each of which is appointed by the President and must be approved by a 60% majority in both the Althing and the Jafnthing, a margin that cannot be changed without an amendment to the Cordian Charter, which is the supreme law of Cordia and may not be contradicted in law.
