[Aurora] Introduction to the Kingdom of Threnebor, Realm of the Mountain Dwarves
#1

"It is said that after Thronurin's victory over the Orc King Ogzul at the Black Mountain, Murukhdin, the head of the Dwarven Pantheon, appeared from the sky and approached the Dwarf leader. After congratulating the Dwarf leader, Murukhdin set him on a quest to found a Kingdom southwest of the Black Mountain. There he would find a holy stone to mark his divine rule, the Threnenstone. This stone holds magic powers that enhance mining speed and increases attention to detail for artisans as well as protection for its mountain. The Dwarves then moved through the Adamantine Mountains towards the mountain at a the corner of a valley, which later was named after Thronurin. In this mountain, the Mountain Dwarves caved in and mined for riches and made jewellery renowned for its beauty. Through perseverance the Dwarves dwelled deeper and deeper into the mountain and eventually a gem that shines bright white light was found. It was the Threnenstone, the stone that gave divinity to Thronurin's reign. The mountain was named Threnebor and the Dwarven Kingdom was founded. Thus was given birth to the Kingdom of Threnebor with Thonurin I was its first King Under The Mountain. As centuries past and Thronurin became known as the Undying, the Mountain Dwarves set out to settle other mountains and spread out their realm. Through time the Kingdom of Threnebor had encapsulated most of the adamantine mountains and became the Realm of the Mountain Dwarves."

The banner of Threnebor and its Kingdom
The Kingdom of Threnebor is the Kingdom of the Mountain Dwarves in the Adamantine Mountains in the southern continent of Terra Aurora. Founded by the legendary First King Under The Mountain, Thronurin the Undying, it is considered the home of the Mountain Dwarves otherwise known as Thronurin's Folk and holds the seven cities of the Mountain Dwarves. The Kingdom is most known for its underground cities which are located beneath mountains spread all over the Adamantine Mountain range. Although it is a Dwarven Kingdom it is not solely inhabited by them as many different races can be found in the market towns settled along the Azure Stream and the Emerald River. As the Dwarves mine the mountains and make goods from their exceptional artisanship, these goods are them exported towards the market towns and from there all over the continent. Ales, wines, silk and leatherworks are then brought from the market towns into the mountains where they are either consumed or used for other artisan works. It goes without saying that Threnebor is often looked upon for its treasures either for trade or to steal. Legends of old tell that both fire- and cold-drakes were eluded by its wealth and the Dwarves often fought with these dragons in the Dragon incursions. However dragons weren't the only challenge left in the Adamantine Mountains. Orcs and goblins lived there as well, though they numbers were heavily depleted after Thronurin the Undying's reign. Occasionally theses orcs and goblins would band together to threaten a city or towns, but after the reign of King Thronurin II, no such foul creatures were seen for centuries. Only on the utmost fringes of the Kingdom can they be seen, but it has become and ever increasing rarity. However the Kingdom remains resolute and stubborn as the motto of Thronurin's Folk louds clearly through the mountains: "Binmoboshkhul ni khalûk!". Unconquered in difficult times!

Government
The Kingdom is lead by King  Under The Mountain who holds absolute power, as his reign is divine, and is assisted by his advisory council, the Council of Masters, of which each member is head of an Office (ministry) or a Lordhood of another Dwarven city. The monarch can only be succeeded by a male heir as female are not allowed by law. The King reigns from his Adamantian Throne in the Royal Halls of Threnebor and above it, sits the Threnenstone. The King is the highest authority in the Kingdom and none can contradict his will, even if he goes mad. It is also forbidden for  the King to abdicate as this would undermine his divinity. This is because of the Threnenstone, which is said from legends to hold magical power.

Members of the Council of Masters are appointed by the King and they can appoint different members within their ministries. This process is highly meritocratic and exclusive to Thronurin's Folk. The King also appoints the Lord of a new mountain city, who then become hereditary titles. These Lords help the King to govern the cities through a feudal system, but none can claim another's territory and intermarriage is strictly forbidden as to not create contenders for the Admantian Throne. The Lords also have a seat on the Council of Masters. In total the Council of Masters holds six Dwarf Lords and seven Masters who are responsible for the Offices (Office of Agriculture, Office of Treasury, Office of Trade, Office of Magic, Office Artisanship, Office of Mining, Office Transport). They advise the King on matters of state and cannot overrule his word.

Members of the Council of Masters:
Lord of Gorlum, Borroth, son of Brosgroth
Lord of Thronlim Hobroin, son of Habloin
Lord of Thormur Gamli son of Glain
Lord of Tirloic Orumli, son of Orloin
Lord of Droic Doic, son of Thoic Ironfoot
Lord of Gardulim, Dwen son of Dwac
Master of Agriculture, Molvon, son of Golvon
Master of Treasury, Throil, son of Thrail
Master of Trade, Tholvum, son of Thalvum
Master of Magic, Thaigu, son of Fregu
Master of Artisanship, Grelror, son of Khul
Master of Mining, Gleben, son Glemlen
Master of Transport, Flagi, son of Lain

The rulers of market towns, Masters, can be elected by the local populace, but in the end the approval of the King is needed. These Masters of Towns serve for life or until abdicated by populace, own will or the King. They are responsible for the day to day operations of a city. Contrary to the other governmental functions, Masters of Towns are not excluded to Mountain Dwarves and are often seen uphold by men.

Geography and Nature
Geagraphy
The Adamantine Mountains, or Ubokhzdilkhûri in the Dwarven tongue, offer extreme protection from outsiders as both a wall and rough terrain. Spanning 200 toors at its widest and 400 in height, the Kingdom is fairly small, but this is due the Dwarves' preference for mountainous terrain. The mountains force entrants to follow the narrow mountain paths or through Thronurin's Valley by the Emerald River. The Adamantine mountains are also fairly high, with most easily going over 4 toors, and most have snow all year round. Waterfalls, streams and lakes are also common sight throughout the mountains. Travel in winter however, can become quite troublesome as the roads are blocked, especially the mountain paths. Even though the Dwarves live largely underground, many men have spoken as the Adamantine Mountains having the most beautiful sight from atop mountains. The tips of the mountain are snow or of cold nature all year around. As one slowly goes to the roots of these giant he will find himself in snowy and then dry taiga forests. Depending on the location, lower lands will be encapsulated by mountains and create isolated valleys and biomes. These are mostly temperate of nature, but exceptions do exists. The basin of Gharhili is waRmer in nature due to more hot water sources. It is here that palm trees grow within the mountains and exotic fruits grow nowhere else in the Kingdom. Some say this region was created through magic, others study the workings of the biome, but all are left stunned. This basin is one of a kind and still holds mysteries for one to discover.

Nature
East of the Adamantine Mountains lies Mallornwood (Malkhuzdbizar), a hilled area filled with large Mallorn trees which grow up to a 300 feet. Although their large size, they can grow to their full extent in just 50 years, without taking too much resources from the ground as they roots quickly grow deep and go through solid rock with relative ease. Mallorn trees are also magical and their wood is often used as a sturdy construction material and can be bent through certain spells. The leaves of these trees also have healing powers and are known for their importance in the brewing of potions. Although it has been theorised by men that one can make villages inside these trees, such settlements have not yet been approved by the King as he scarcely chops one of them down and plants new ones.

In the north bordering the Kingdom of Astjumreva are the Oakling Hills (Stekharzhûri), which also go into Astjumreva. These hills have large oak forests, but has gained the name Oakling as the Dwarves often cut down large portions of it at once and thus many oaklings follow after, taking their chance to grow big themselves in this circular circle. The Oakling Hills are also known for their farm lands and is famed for its good ales. Although governance can be low in these parts, it is largely tolerated. The Lord of Gorlum often helps with the taxation of this region, although governing it is put as a second priority and often ignored if there aren't any problems.

The Azure Stream is on of the two main rivers of the Kingdom. The Azure Stream slides through the western Adamantine Mountains and many logging villages and towns. The Azure Stream (Azkhad-nâla) gained its name from the many blue minerals which are found in it and give its distinct colour. The Emerald River (Khrogron-nâla) has gained its name the same way and goes from east to west across the southern part of the Kingdom. These rivers serve as a primary transportation system and contrary to the mountain pathways, they remain functional all year long as their mineral and hot water sources keep them from freezing.

Animals
The national animal of the Kingdom is the Adamantian Goat. These large goats are the main herbivore in these mountain and travers them with ease and elegance like elves. These creatures have been domesticated even before Thronurin's reign and have become reliable cattle for all focuses in live, from farming to cavalry. They also help inside the mines as they need few oxygen relative to their body. They also are an excellent resource for leathery clothing and from their horns, different luxuries are made and are even milked. When calling on horns made from these goats, it is said that Thronurin the Undying himself will come back from the Afterlife to assist the Dwarves who call the horn on Aurora as a guiding spirit. It is for this reason that they have become the national animal of the Kingdom.

Another animal is the Mihrbar Pig. Like the Adamantian Goats, these pigs are larger creatures compared to their normal counterparts. These pigs are omnivorous and they have been frequently reported to eat their enemy on the battlefield. Like the goats they are also used for food and leatherworks. Although these creatures can seem feral at times, they have been domesticated and are fiercely loyal to their owner thanks to their high intelligence. Most won't accept a second owner and are often put down if their owner is slain. It should be noted however that there are distinctions made between pigs bred for war and for food. Often the ones bred for war are just called War Pigs, while the others are called Mihrbar Pigs. War Pigs are also used in the cavalry, though at a lesser extent than goats and more so as a terror factor compared to the goats.

Cities and Towns
Threnebor is the prime example of a mountain city as it was the first of its kind for Thronurin's Folk. These cities are carved inside the mountains and their pillars are gilded with riches. From these halls different sections branch off, such as the living area, forging area, ... Often the King's/Lord's Hall is at the front behind a market section. As one goes deeper he will find the treasury, living quarters, forging area and mines. Although large, their gates are relatively small, as to force the enemy into a narrow path and defend it zealously. Statues are often used as decorations and their architecture is very blocky compared to other races such as men and elves. They also are built with a keen attention to engineering and often have many practical appliances if one is careful enough to spot them all.

The Royal Halls of Threnebor
To run a prosperous economy the Dwarves have allowed men to settle their valleys and found market towns run in part by them. These towns focus on trade and commerce. These often are responsible to fuel the Dwarves need for goods they don't have beneath mountains, such as woods, pipeweed and silk. These towns often take form according to the needs of their citizens and contrast the Dwarven architecture. These towns also have ports as they serve as a mean of transportation with the rest of the Kingdom and beyond.

Population
Mountain Dwarves
The main race of the Kingdom are of course the Dwarves, specifically the Mountain Dwarves or Thronurin's Folk. This race stands short comparing to the other races at roughly 1,3 m in height. However they have a sturdy design and can easily withstand heavy attacks from other races. The race consists of two sexes, although some distant parts may only believe there are no Dwarf females or they look and sound the same as their male counterparts. These rumours are untrue, but Dwarf females are highly guarded and aren't expected to leave their mountain homes, though there are exceptions to this. Dwarf females are of the same height and have the same reproductive organs as human female, although they can be hairier than human females. Female Dwarves are known to grow sideburns, though this has become a rarity over the centuries. Males have extensive hair and are often called Longbeards by other races. As the area around the mouth has no facial hair in the female sex, having hair in these parts as a male is a sign of masculinity and most males will at least bear a goatee. Hair colours are also limited to brown, dark and red. Over time they will grow gray, but this is expected after 200 years.
Dwarves ago incredibly quickly as they come of age at 14 and live in between 250 to 350 years. Though some exceptions can be found such as Thronurin the Undying who lived up to 500 years. This give the dwarves plenty of time to give in to their passion of artisanship, often giving up on family life. This however would have been a trouble, but thanks to a gender imbalance this is offset. Around 60% of the Dwarves are male and 40% female and most only have one child, with 4 being an utmost limit. Dwarves would rather focus on their artisanship and have no regrets on not leaving their works to kin of their own. Dwarves are also very stubborn and might go entire lives loving a certain person, whom will not love them and this also forms a few problems for the race as a whole. Albeit their current numbers are around 1,5 million

Human
Humans have also become part of the Kingdom as they migrated from far away lands in search for riches which the Dwarves has plenty of. Thus an alliance was made between the two races. Humans now formally were part of the Kingdom and swore allegiance to the King Under The Mountain. Their origin is unknown, but they have spread all over Terra Aurora and have become one of the most dominant species. They have a taller stature than Dwarves, ranging from 1,6 to 2 m. They are less sturdy however, but they are more adaptable to situations than Dwarves and the vast differences between the different strains of men is another advantage they posses as a species.
Like Dwarves they have two sexes. Unlike female Dwarves, women don't grow any facial hair, but humans can have blonde hair and red hair is a rarity. Humans are considered to come of age at 16 years within the Kingdom, but easily stay longer with their parents until about 18 years when they part away. Unlike Dwarves, humans have a tighter bond with their family which is much more numerous and the limit is considered to be 12, significantly higher than Dwarves. They are spread across the rivers of the Kingdom and number into the 300.000 as their numbers grow exponentionally.
