This is the thread serves as a sign up for players who wish to RP as Senators/Viceroys or Congressmen. As Stoinian society begins to change it should be an excellent opportunity to open this prospect to RP. Even for people who don't own a plot, feel free to sign up here and I'll guide you in the process. The underlying details serve as a guideline and aren't hard rules however. Rebellion in parties does occur. Here's the thread in which this will take place.

Overview of political parties:

• Libertarian Trade League (LTL):
  Lead by Congressman Robert Smith (known businessman). They want less regulations and protect the merchant’s interests and ensure capitalist values. They value commerce above all else and want to expand the Stoinian market to other nations. Though they might have reservations on other matters such as immigration if it were to distabilize the economy or the Stoinian market.
  
• Centrist Party (CP):
  Lead by Congresswoman Ecaterina Tudor. They want to keep things as they are and use centrist policies. Keep the monarchy and the military as they are is most important to them They are the middleman who make the compromises 
  
• Liberal Party (LP):
  Lead by Congressman Gustav Järvinen. They want less regulations like the LTL and ensure the liberties of the people. They also want a more regulated military as they deem the SPARTAN Program a defiance of liberties. They view that the military infringes on the rights of Stoinian citizens and want to put a civilian jury to oversee the military. They also want a more expanded healthcare system.
  
• Democratic Freedom Party (DFP):
  Lead by Congresman Edouard Pierre, a staunch republican. They want a more democratic system where the Monarch holds less power. They ensure the people’s liberties and oppose the SPARTAN Program and the military's influence to lessen. They are similar to the Liberal Party, but are more radical and want a radical Republican Revolution.
  
• Traditional Party for Colonial Empowerment (TPCE):
  Lead by Lord Ethan Thorne, a self-centred noble. They are socially stagnant and want the nobility to hold more local power and ensure that colonies receive more power. They believe in a Terrans First principle in which they are the dominant species. They have no respect for pacifists and see other nations as nuances as they believe the Stoinians have the strength in their own 
  
• Progressive Xeno Party (PXP):
  Lead by Congresswoman Mary-Beth Rogers. They are the more socialist of the political parties. They are socially progressive as in they want to enlighten the alien species inside the Star Kingdom’s borders and give them full citizenship. They want to reduce the military and regulate them as they deem it unnecessary. They also want to ban the Great Hunt as they deem hunting sapients and semi-sapients (like Mardakii) a crime. They also want to abolish the 6 hour compulsory militaristic style sport lessons.
  
• Crown’s Guard (CG): 
  Lead by Lord Roger Winton. Staunch supporters of the Crown who want to ensure the monarchy remains. They are the royalty faction of the Centrists Party most of its members are Viceroys and almost exclusive to the Planetary Assembly.

Declaration of War against the Venterran Federation
So with the Tunnel of Contest thread heating up, a war between the Stoinians and Venterrans will take place. The King has already enacted a sectorwide state of emergency for the Core, Elysium and Rhodesian sectors. By Stoinian law it is required that all three parties of Stoinian Governance: military, Congress and King, vote unanimously to declare a state of war. This session will take place in the first week when the Venterran Fleet is still bombarding Cornucopia and its shields are holding for now. The military hasn't yet fully mobilized and Grand Admirals Corvousier, Vir and Harrington are scrambling ships from their sectors to launch a counterattack. The Venterran assault is pushing further into Stoinian territory and is slowly being halted at the grey line as of the moment of the session. The Venterran threat is real and the People's Assembly has already voted in favour and the support of Congress now falls into the hands of the Senate
 

The Venterran threat is real and the People's Assembly has already voted in favour for it. The fate now rests in the hands of the Senate and the resolution WILL pass, but politicians being politicians will take this change to make their agendas clear. However the Senate will vote near unanimously as news of the Venterrans will start to glass the planet Ignis. This news will not arrive before the end of the RP and when to genocidal Venterrans unleash their true nature, all will want to fight against extermination. Still having the Velutarian War in memory where many planets were glassed (red ones on map), the population will not want to yield as the overcoming stories still are spread in the Star Kingdom. However horror stories are still out there and many veterans of that war are also in Congress.

Proponents:
The parties in favour for the declaration of war are the Centrist Party, Crown's Guard, Traditional Party for Colonial Empowerment. The Centrist and Crown's Guard believe there is no way for clear communication and thus the Venterrans have forced them into declaring a state of war. The Traditional Party is in favour as well as they view it as chance to prove Terran superiority again. 

Opponents:
There will be some initial resistance as well though. The Democratic and Liberal Party will call this as an example of the problems with the military. They want complete civilian supervision and takeover of the military to ensure that the soldiers' right aren't infringed like with the SPARTAN Program. They also will acclaim the King's vote and his powers as being a form of absolutism. In essence this session is just a ceremony to reflect the will of the people. The fact that there can be defensive war without Congress' approval is a problem in the current Stoinian system and they will seize this moment to ask for changes into the constitution to limit the King's powers and his removal as head of the military (in most extreme cases). The Progressive Xeno Party sees this as unnecessary bloodshed and will favour some form of peace opportunity as not many Stoinians (just military personnel) have fallen just yet. This idea will gain even more hate towards them from all other parties however and more militant factions within the TPCE will interrupt them during their speeches.
Independents are mostly in favour, but exceptions do exist.

General Background:
The King is highly praised as a hero from the Velutarian War and it takes more extreme factions to attack his actions personally. Some see him as a menace as he did call for a Crusade not so long ago. The scars from the Velutarian War are still deep and not many are reluctant to go on a war again. During the military's take over in the Velutarian War, many rights were put aside in he effort to win the war. Regent MacArthur is still seen by many as a hero and the Second Father of Stoinia, but more and more criticism has grown over the years as the military's actions have been declassified. The opponents will try to seize this moment to undo the MacArthur Reforms which diminished the civilian government's say in military matters. More extreme xenophobes will call for the extermination of the Venterrans as they show no capacity for diplomacy.

How this RP will take place:

1. You sign up here by stating in a post from which party (or independent) you want to RP as. There is a distinction between Senator (elected) and Viceroy, the royalty of a planet. Then I'll give you all the details necessary for the representative's planet's background. 
   
2. You can post your character's statement in the IC thread when the session goes live in a post where I introduce the session.
   
3. Be sure to incorporate that the High Sentinel (Speaker) appoints your character and you yield the floor at the end of each post. This way everyone can have his/her say in a civilized and controlled manner. Though some characters (especially those from TPCE) might be an exception to this rule and will be further detailed in my post regarding your character's background.
