[IC] The Demise of Atlantis
#1

An OOC-note at the beginning

This thread shall provide you an overview over the history of the ANF through a documentary series produced and broadcasted by TT24, owned by the Torakuta Corporation, which was produced since 5668 NC (20,018 SC/three years ago).

The series features the historian and heir to Torakuta’s position of CEO, Enari Torakuta. He has access to all historical archives in the ANF, which means he has access to every piece of information about the ANF from the start of the first Atlantic civilization on Pacifica until the most recent corporation wars. The focus on this series will be on how Atlantis became subject to such radical political and societal changes in the last millennium. It is supposed to shed light on the complex works, which ultimately led to the demise of Atlantis; the recent addition to Pacifican societies, that have fallen over time like the Gianlucians or the Sedunners did a few millennia ago.

Especially when it comes to smaller details or to more recent events, you might want to look at the given information with a grain of salt. Mr. Torakuta was free to provide the information factually and neutrally, but not always was he successful with that. Other corporations or some of the rarely existing independent politicians might have other views on certain events, other historians might interpret the data a little bit different, but all in all most of the things he will present are factually correct, especially when the events happened a long time ago already.

Episode 1 - [PILOT] The Space-faring Atlantics

Welcome to “The Demise of Atlantis”. Thank you for tuning in and having interest in the history of our nation. I am your host, Enari Torakuta, and will present to you over the course of the following episodes, how the Atlantic-Nuclearian Federation has become what it is today.

The question, when Atlantic history has started, is posed regularly in school lessons all around the federation. Many myths and conspiracy theories revolve around the origins of our civilization, but everyone, who has some actual interest in history will know, that all of this is wrong. Unlike other civilizations, the ANF was never backwards enough to sacrifice their history in order to protect themselves. We all are proud conservationists of the immaterial good of knowledge. We would rather die a slow and painful death, than to voluntarily give up our history, values and knowledge, which would result in us being forgotten.

You might ask yourself now, where our history has started then.

It was right here. A blue planet in a solar system nowhere near the federation’s location. It is assumed. that the original Atlantics, who made their way into this area of the universe were probably victims of a “wild wormhole”. “Why victims?”, you might ask yourself, after all wormholes are a mean of travel for some civilizations and companies nowadays.

You need to know, that the Atlantics, when they decided to leave their home planet in the year 12,517 SC, around 7,500 years ago, were still a relatively undeveloped civilization. They were able to leave the planet, which was hell to live in due to climate changes, with around 1,000 first generation space ships. Those ships were slow and could only travel with half of light speed maximum and the community of around 10,000 people per ship could not live luxurious lives on them. The goal was to somehow drift through space over generations and eventually find a planet to live on together. In some ships riots might have broken out, others wanted to settle on planets with blood-thirsty creatures or other deadly conditions and some of them might have gotten lost in black holes or wormholes alike. The latter most likely happened to the original Atlantics, which probably found this sector of the universe after some 1,500 years of floating around the void.

According to the data in the Royal Archives on Nuklea and Toratu seven ships fell victim of that hole. I probably do not need to mention all of them, as normally every Atlantic should know them by heart! They were the famous Atu 622, Atu 632, Atu 736, Atu 737, Atu 753, Atu 843 and Atu 923. Eventually after almost another decade of commanding the ships through the territory, which is nowadays the ANF, it was time to finally settle down. Commander Re has discovered Toratu in 14,029 SC (almost 6000 years ago) and landed his ship, the Atu 753, on it. When the new settlers were sure, they could survive within this atmosphere and found the creatures living on the planet mostly either dangerous, but shy, or friendly towards them, they decided to build up their new society on this planet. The former landing site of Atu 753 is nowadays known as Commander Re Plaza and has the Dome Memorial in its middle.

Building up a new society from scratch with the living persons only ever knowing a life on a sustainable space ship was a challenge for sure. The members of each ship needed to find and exploit resources like water, stones, minerals and metals. They needed to organize a state-like entity and make decisions the majority could live with. They needed to find an ideal place to settle in. Eventually they started building the first intergalactic city of Atlantis around 10 km away from the landing site. As energy supply they used the atomic reactors on the ships at first, feeding it with uranium, that they fortunate enough to find near the city borders.

Over the next decade the community of just 100,000 people in the beginning was quickly increasing to become something of a nation with a population of almost half a million in 14,042 SC. The “Council of Elders” consisting of the High Commanders of each ship, which was determining the politics and life of the new nation, eventually decided, it would be due time to introduce a constitution before a power vacuum might occur, shall one of them die.

Commander Yta was elected King by the populace. The Council of Elders became an advisory board to him. Their first advise was to build the Toratu Space Center, so the Atlantics were able to explore their new galaxy in no time and that is, what Yta has ordered his peasants to do. In 14,076 SC the first reverse engineered spacecraft, based on the Atu 753, could start its journey into space once again. The manned mission had the established goal to find an area to dispose nuclear waste on, that the Atlantics did not want to keep on Toratu out of health-related concerns. Something they have not expected though, was that in 14,122 SC they would coincidentally encounter another spacecraft near today’s Tammuk Galaxy – or rather they were followed by it, because it was chasing them.

This other spacecraft wanted to get a hold of the Atlantics, but not because they were eager to make a first contact with a species or were some pirates, but because they thought the Atlantics would be pirates smuggling low-quality nuclear waste across the border – the Nuclearian border. This misunderstanding had a deadly consequence for the crew of the Atlantics’ flag ship, but also a good consequence for the Atlantics as a whole, because the Nuclearians found the waste to be of even higher quality than their own.

A long story short: The Nuclearian “police” was able to track the route the spacecraft had taken and landed on Toratu in 14,145 SC, where they tried to negotiate a deal with King Yta.

What that deal was about and how it all ended in the foundation of the ANF you can see in the next episode of “The Demise of Atlantis”.
I am looking forward to it. Stay curious and good night!
