Rebeltopia & Arbiter For TSP Delegate/VD
#21

(Trying to ask both sets of candidates the same questions for fairness.)

For Rebel-topia:

You are running for the WA delegate position without having mentioned the WA a single time in your campaign platform. Do you have any kind of opinions at all that might convince us to elect you to a position holding enormous influence within the WA?

For Arbiter08:

Which science fiction story would you choose to compare the current situation in The South Pacific, and why?

I've never been deeply interested in the WA. I have been getting more into reading and voting on the resolutions as they make it to vote. I have not been getting into the discussions before/during the voting, though.
I will probably continue to read what the few people who post here on the forums about it, and take that into consideration when looking at the vote of the region. A Delegate must vote with the people, not against them, unless there is ties to TSP - both directly or indirectly. As I said somewhere this election, I would absolutely love for you to continue to be my WA Adviser, and I would hope to have some sort of exchange with you on how I should vote.

I'd like to ask the same question of RT, mostly outta curiosity.

The one science fiction story I would compare TSP to at this point in time is The Hunger Games. The assembly is sort of like the arena, yet nobody dies. People do fight in both, yet in TSP if you lose you are not out. The cabinet is sort of acting like game-makers, directing how the game is played, to a certain extent. We have people who are leaving, which would compare to people dying in the arena. Some combatants choose to fight for every inch of ground, while others wait until the right moment and then attack. I do think that we have a couple of "Careers" in TSP, which would be people who have spent a long time in the assembly debating topics. We also have a sort of "Reaping" where people can volunteer as tribute and enter the arena, which would compare to people who willingly enter the assembly. There are some flaws in this comparison, but it is the closest science fiction story I can compare TSP to at the moment

Haha. I was asking more in jest than anything, but you made a fair game of it, well done.

Thanks to both for answering

I'd like to think that us in the Cabinet aren't as unknowingly sadistic as the Gamemakers (Tounge), but otherwise I actually really liked this. You should seriously develop that idea and post it in the Assembly!

I wouldn't know where to begin, mostly as I don't actually watch many movies/TV shows. If you're basing your vote off of that, this region is in some serious trouble Tounge

First, I want to thank those of you who asked questions.

If you would have told me three years ago, that in three years, I'd be running for Delegate, I'd have called you mad. I had no desire to be Delegate. I had no desire to spend about half of my time here - 5 terms - in the cabinet. I had little to no experience doing whats expected the Delegate do. But TSP changes. TSP changes people. I have spent 5 of the last 6 terms in the Cabinet. I have helped this region grow. I revolved my campaign around my knowledge and record, and Arbiters fresh face. I had outlined that we needed a Delegate who could settle the storm. One who could transition us from rags toward riches. I truly believe I am that person. I have never run for a position that I didn't think I'd be the best person for the job. The questions asked were fair, and I answered them truthfully. I'm not one to sugarcoat. I will not let this region down. I will not have my home ruined. Whether I win the election or not, I will be pushing my campaign through my works in the Assembly.

Lastly, I'd like to thank those of you who have supported me throughout the last year and a half, and those of you who will vote for me (and have already, as the case may be) to be the Delegate of what I think is the best region in NationStates.

Thank you.
