This thread will serve as the public office of the Ministry of Media. Any periodic updates on the news and media outlets the Ministry operates, as well as any other significant updates concerning the Ministry will be posted here. It will also serve as an area for the Minister to answer questions and respond to request for information from the general public.

The incumbent Minister of Media is Wizard Ferret, with @Purple Hyacinth and @Rabbitz serving as members of the Ministry Leadership Team.

Ministry Information & Roles

The Ministry of Media (MoM) is responsible for the public media of the South Pacific. It runs public news services such as the Southern Journal. MoM is suitable for those who like to write and get a hand in journalism. The Minister of Media's role is described by the Charter of the South Pacific as the following:

(10) The Minister of Media will be responsible for overseeing the regular publication of public media, including news content, in the South Pacific.

 

Within the Ministry, there are four primary types of staff involvement, each of which is crucial to our Charter-given duties:

 

Writers: 

• Write articles about a wide range of subjects and issues, including latest events happening around NationStates, honest opinion pieces, and satirical parodies.
  

Interviewers:

• Interview prominent figures from both home and abroad, including roleplayers, region leaders, community builders, military personnel, and WA resolution and issue authors.
  

Statisticians:

• Conduct polls and surveys about various phenomena, collect data from the results, and analyze them to find patterns and other interesting observations.
  

Editors:

• Check over submitted articles and interviews, find inconsistencies and mistakes, and point out improvements the submitters can make in order to create better content.

Hello all,

@islands_of_unity (better known as Islas) is no longer a member of Ministry of Media Leadership, as they've stepped down of their own volition, citing personal reasons. The current staffers on MoM Leadership right now are @Moon (as the incumbent Minister of Media), @Purple Hyacinth and @Rabbitz.

We're all saddened to see Islas step down and would like to take this moment to thank them for their service as Minister of Media over the previous two terms. We hope that they continue to contribute to the Ministry with their ever-present energy and wonderful creativity that has been on display ever since they joined TSP.

Hello all,

 

I'm pleased to announce that the Ministry of Media Discord overhaul is now complete. We've managed to reduce the number of channels we had and replace it with a new, unified channel, streamlining the workplace in the process. We've also created dedicated roles for staffers looking to focus on a particular area in the ministry including an editorial team, almost certainly guaranteeing an uptick in the quality of the contents MoM produces.

 

We at MoM look forward to moving ahead and adapting with time in order to fulfil our one and only goal; to produce the best and latest contents we possibly can for you while having some fun along the way. And we hope to have you along with us for the ride.

Hello all,

Due to the completion of the Unified Application for Executive and Legislative Government system, as announced by the Minister of Engagement @Luca here, the Ministry of Media has shifted its method of recruitment. From here on out, MoM will no longer use Discord private messaging as its primary form of application and strongly encourages every prospective applicant to use the unified application system linked above if they wish to apply to the ministry.

I would like to take this moment to thank the Minister of Engagement and the rest of my colleagues in the Cabinet for completing this landmark project and sincerely hope that this finally brings an end to our woes of finding and developing new talent here in the South Pacific.
