Presidential Unification Day Speech
Today President Blanc addressed the nation on Unification day as she opened the border crossing between Montacia and Brodlancia after the clearing of a minefield that has separated the two nations for 40 years.
President Blanc Addressing the Nation Earlier Today
“Today as I look across these rolling hills, and meandering valleys, I am deeply saddened. I am distraught that these very same hills, covered so gracefully in the colour and vibrancy of native meadows, have divided the two great nations of Montaica and Brodlancia for four long and desperate centuries.
When the colonialists came, they shattered the heart of our nation, a heart divided in three, and they set those pieces against each other. Brother fought brother, and father fought son as our once great nation became puppets to less happy men, envious of our great nations vibrant history, it’s energetic culture and emerald green hills topped by diamond mountains.
These last four hundred years have had their toll, our people have become divided by religion, language and politics. But, we have not become a divided culture, there will always be more that unites us than divides us. We will always be a culture of relentless progress and curiosity, the pioneers who see no challenge too far, and no obstacle too large. We do not, however, lose our humanity in our quest for progress and knowledge, we have always loved our families and our neighbours, and welcomed those from outside as members of our cohesive and open society.
As you know, Izaakian is derived from the ancient Montacian meaning free, for we Izaakians are the people lucky enough to have escaped the tyranny of the colonial forces. But in our exile we have never forgotten our home and our nation family, and I ask you to do the same. Forget the borders that have divided us for so long, for together we are stronger than we will ever be apart, and with this strength of unity there is nothing we cannot achieve together.
Working together is what has allowed me to be here today, on our first Unification day, marking one year since we became a reunited people. In that year, we have torn down the border walls, cleared the minefields and built the bridges that will unite our young, but ancient nation, a testament to the power of unity.
To end this speech I am reminded of a poem, a poem that was written in the wilderness days of our great nation.
“We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.”
We did not yield, we strived for our former glory and through strength of will, we have at last regained the strength we were always destined and fated to have, the ability to move the heavens and earth.
Gods Bless the United States of Izaakia”
Gianni: “Izaakia, I hate you so much. You’re such a good bad guy. Must be because of your genes“.
