Seal of the Monarch of the Resentine Kingdom
Official Declaration, May 26th, 2016

Friends and Allies,

After some careful consideration, I, Claudius Valhalla III, Monarch of the Resentine Kingdom and Baliish, wanted to address some international concern for my Parliament's recent actions. Now while Parliament has their reasons for this, and while I agree with some of them, I do have some of my own to which I would like to explain.

Resentine has seen those like Maximilian Rey before. Those who sought a dramatic takeover of their societies, who wanted to take absolute control over their nations, those who threaten the lives of their own citizens just to have control. No matter his intentions, Rey's actions have perpetuated and have constantly been shown to be a source of violence and oppression in Farengeto, whether it be removing his opponents from power and arresting them, or beating down protesters trying to reclaim their democracy. Rey has proven time and time again that he only seeks to be in the vestibules of power by any means necessary, corrupted by his own greed of conscience. Though I have spoken of him in the past, I believe now, more than ever, especially with the Parliament's clear separation from Rey's regime, that he no longer represents the interests of the Farengetan people.

We had several men not much unlike Mr. Rey during the time of our own Civil War. Those who sought power by all means necessary, regardless of the consequences. If I may provide such an one example in Pranciškaus V. Medienos, the former leader of the SCA Rebels in the final years of our Civil War. He was merely a Lieutenant in the SCA's army during his early life, but as he climbed through the ranks of the SCA's military, he grew more and more desperate for power. Committing assassinations, murdering peaceful protesters in the streets of Balent, arresting those who stood in his climb to power. And once he was there, he only grew worse. He established oppressive work camps for those who opposed him, forced his soldiers into near inhospitable conditions, assassinating members of what little of my family was left, and even planting a nuclear bomb in the heart of Theron before his demise. How long do we have to wait until Rey joins this man in the world's history books? 6 Political opponents arrested? 100 Work Camps built? 1000 peaceful protesters killed? How long will it take for the rest of the world to deem this man a danger to his own people?

While I cannot say that my own lineage isn't guilty of similar acts in the past, I can say that my mother, my father, and his father before him, never tolerated such barbarity. Though it has been almost 50 years since any of them have been alive on this Earth, they would be disappointed in me if I failed to condemn what Rey has done to his country and his people. There must be a line drawn, one where we no longer surrender our values of freedom and dignity for the sake easy political alliances. That line must be drawn here, and no further. Whether it be in our own countries or abroad, we cannot continue to tolerate the deliberate actions of repressive dictatorships against their own people. A moral cause must be brought forward against Rey and those like him around the globe. Silence can no longer be an option for any of us, not while these men still hold the reigns of power. As much as they may cry that their actions are in the name of "security" or "stability", they are, and often have been throughout history, the age old cry of the oppressor. I cannot, nor will I, as a matter of good conscience and my belief in freedom for all people of the world, allow Resentine's support of Mr. Rey, or his government.

And with that, I announce that I will be signing Parliament Foriegn Declaration number 109, and further state that Resentine no longer has any support for Mr. Rey's regime in Farengeto.

signed,
