Creation of a Watch List
#141

It wouldn't be a vote Kris, just a discussion forum, but I'm happy with the current system too. It was meant as a compromise solution IF people really thought anything needed changing, which I think would be a better solution than a fixed list. I don't think there is a lot of support for any change though from what I see.

So, this just popped into my head.

I had previously suggested having each application posted in a new thread — as opposed to our organization now. What if we do that, which would turn it into a welcome thread and application discussion (if need be).

There, we'll give citizens a right to "challenge" application. So, either the VD can reject, or the Assembly could. Either way, the rejection would then move to the full Assembly for consideration (if the applicant would like).

This is both more transparent since objections would be open and also a way for our more seasoned members to weigh in.

Well, I think you're on the right track of thinking, but what if the VD just rejects the citizen's objections flippantly?

My thought is ... do a system like you're suggesting, but if a member of the CSS objects to a citizen app, the VD can't reject it - the Assembly has to. The VD being the head of the CSS can discuss with the rest of the CSS during the process.

I wouldn't be opposed to this.

My original thought (which I self edited out of the last post) was to set a threshold for Assembly challenges ... say 3. So, if three people challenge it, it would automatically go the full Assembly.

Oh a threshold would do it too.

I can get behind that idea Tsu, as the Current VD, it can be a little intimidating to go thru all of these people and make sure I'm making the right choice. So having Tsu's idea with a threshold from Uni's I can work with that.

What about a CSS member OR a citizen threshold? Best of both worlds?

If the Assembly were to vote, would it be 50% approval, or 75% like an appeal? The latter seems to me like it would make gaining citizenship especially difficult if one had 3 political enemies in the region. My concern is we could end up with a sort of mob rule on these things.
