Resolution to Call for a Special Election
#31

I think Glen has more of a point than you're giving him credit for, Xoriet: Hileville removed his open legal question of whether or not his actions were legal after he went ahead and did it, so ... that's a thing. That's not the kind of behavior we'd expect of an EC, or you know, a law-abiding citizen.

A question of a behavior's legality is just as important after you do said behavior; it doesn't just become unimportant.

That took a number of edits to fix.  :-/

I'll clarify here again that I'm not accusing Glen of intentionally trying to malign Hileville. I'm just cautioning against words and phrases that can be used to hurt his argument, Unibot.

I'd like to see where exactly GR "fear-mongered." What is the exact quote that is being discussed here?

Considering how far too many people user fear-mongering towards GR to discredit him in TSP and people propose the threat of civil war over his being in the cabinet I'd be wary of anyone trying to turn the tables on him.

He is the injured party and he needs to be able to speak in his own defense without people acting like its unseemly for someone to defend themselves.

This two-faced "its okay if me or mine do it but not if the other side does it" is a virulent disease in NS.

Getting back to the subject at hand,

Why did the EC wait until post the results, after posing the question and then rescinding it from the courts? Why did he not check and pause the election before the results were down when the citizen in question voted?

I mean he very swiftly corrected a double voter but he waited until after the election was over and therefore neither side was able to make a change to then go about and declare the vote uncountable.

If he had waited for the court response or re-run the election as he at one point proposed or paused the election when Railana first voted (at the exact time and date) then it would not seem as if an underhanded action had taken place.

It does look bad, and I trust that the Court will look into this matter.

In fact, Railana voted on 03-22-2015, 09:31 PM (http://thesouthpacific.x10.mx/thread-2049-page-4.html )

Why did Hileville wait until the end of the election to point out the citizenship was invalid? He should have verified and paused the election on 3/22/2015 or at the latest by 3/23/2015 and stated in thread that Railana was not a citizen and therefore their vote was invalid.

Instead he chose to wait and bring up the issue at the end of the election was over. Then instead of waiting for the court to provide some decision, he reneged on his attempt to get an adequate explanation.  That speaks to some underhandness.

It also casts aspersions on the candidate he supported in this particular race, which considering how contentious the elections and the fog has been around this election is unfortunate.

Ah. Now I get it. I should have stopped the election because an invalid vote was cast. Yep sounds like a good idea.

You need to read back through the threads. I didn't hide the fact that an invalid vote was cast. The name of the person was also mentioned as others noticed it as well.
#37

You posted a message regarding the double vote. Where is the message publicly posted about Railana not being eligible to vote? The EC is the one who needs to inform the public about votes, invalid or valid at the time. Not after the fact. There is no message post Railana's vote stating, "Railana's vote in post # is discounted due to lapsed activity requirements."

There is no message in thread about Railana being ineligible to vote in the Voting Booth. Nor did Railana receive a PM about it. Therefore, the timeline of events speaks for itself.

I think Hile did point out in his legal question that there were votes from people not meeting citizenship requirements, which was mid voting period. I am not sure if it was specified at that time whose vote was in question without looking further.
#39

It wasn't, by him at least. I believe TAC was the one who mentioned it later on in the thread.

I did indeed mention it publicly at the top of page four of Hileville's Legal Question regarding Voting and Citizenship. In all fairness to Hileville, I did not name anyone specifically when I sent him and Penguin a PM. I did however, mention Railana specifically to Penguin in response to her reply.
