Opinion on Israel
#11

President Truman once said, "It must be the policy of the United States to support free people who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressures." Well, I would argue that both Palestine and Israel qualify for this.

I think that both Israel and Palestine deserve to exist as independent states. Israel must stop the occupation of the West Bank, and Palestine must stop using terrorism to achieve their goal.

The only reason Truman didn't choose indifference in the matter was because his buddy was Jewish.

The US should stop being buddy-buddy with Israel. It's one thing to help a group that's suffered genocide, and another to back a country that, ever since its creation, has gone around flipping off its neighbors.

Well its neighbors have been doing the same thing.

Which is still no reason to turn a blind eye and pretend like Israel is an innocent and peace-loving nation. Israel is anything but peace-loving.

Until they push for a 2 state solution themselves, stop expanding into Palestine, stop using excessive force in response to minor incidents, I will can't support Israel. I don't think the US should give them any money.

If the US stops giving money, the Israelis are doomed to be conquered either by its neighbors or arab terrorists. And that would be worse.

Would it? It bothers me how so many people just assume that the US always must/can provide a solution to Middle East problems. At some point it just isn't their problem to solve, and they'd be much safer if they didn't keep giving terrorists reasons to attack.
