Sweden and Refugees
#1

Sweden is perhaps the most generous country in the world to refugees, which of course means that a lot of refugees find their way through Europe to seek asylum there. So many, in fact, that proper housing can no longer be provided. The government is seeking ways to cut expanses in almost all sectors, except the small defence budget, to find money to tackle the refugee crisis. It is also pleading to the EU to help redistribute the refugees.

What do you think? How can we help these people? Is Sweden too generous? What should the EU do?

Even though Sweden is being good and all, they are taking too much. One person(aka Henn) who I hold in high esteem said once these words to me, and now I say it to Sweden: "Stop being so goddamn selfless"

Sweden must fight for itself in this situation. Sweden and other nations who are taking in these refugees must stand against other nations saying no to refugees. They must force them to agree to a fair program.

To make Sweden, the Nordics, Germany and to some lesser extent, France, Spain, Italy and the UK(?) house all refugees is unfair. There needs to be a redistribution program agreed by all EU members. However, refusing to house the refugees is also unfair. Europe must take these refugees in an united way. Some nations are just selfish, causing strain on nations who do accept refugees.

Actually, Norway and Finland don't even take that many refugees in, barely any. Also, many of the countries on the eastern edge of the EU, like Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, the Baltic countries, and also some Western countries, like the Iberian countries, France and Luxembourg, haven't taken in as many as they could. The problem is that the refugees almost all target Germany and Sweden, ignoring countries like Poland. And even a plan to resdistribute them all across 3 967 824 square kilometers of land would be extremely costly and difficult considering that the migrants maybe are unhappy to move.

This is hard.

Sweden couldn't handle it any more: http://www.thelocal.se/20151124/sweden-s...r-refugees

"[Prime Minister] Löfven was very critical of other EU countries who he felt were not taking equal responsibility for the refugees, adding: "Now we must show that we can do no more. (...) We must create breathing space for the Swedish asylum system. We must get people seeking asylum to apply to other countries.""
