Treecuu Star Empire Overview
#1

This thread aims to provide an overview of the Treecuu Star Empire and related things. The posts will be updated as things develop (it's a WIP).
A note for RP: most of the information about the Treecuu is unknown to aliens.
Comments and questions are welcome.

The Treecuu Star Empire ([Image: pYqbY3s.png], translit. Treecuu-uumth-aateec) is an interstellar federation located near the centre of Sector A1-0. It spans across an area of about 700 x 200 ly2, bordering the ANF and the UCP among others. Commonly it is estimated that the empire comprises 33,000 star systems, of which at least 2000-4000 are inhabited to some degree. The empire is divided into 13 mandates, each governed by a cirth (governor), who is appointed by the Senate which is located on the planet Ecteen, the capital of the empire. The mandates have a more administrative role than being actual self-governing entities, although the governor has extensive authority in matters regarding law enforcement and industrial development. The most important duty of the governor is asserting dominance over the subject species under his/her control.

The Treecuu Star Empire maintains an isolationist policy and its extensive network of buoys marking the territory claimed is well-known. However, there is practically no traffic crossing the Treecuu border, and few ships that enter Treecuu space return. Therefore, little about the empire is known to the surrounding nations.

Military of the Treecuu Star Empire

The military of the Treecuu Star Empire is composed of five independent organisations listed below. How the Treecuu FTL technology works has defined the general parameters of Treecuu military doctrine. With limited travel speeds, but great manoeuvrability (i.e. travel independently of massive objects for navigation), the Treecuu rely on smaller ships in great numbers to cover most of its territory, meaning it is highly decentralised.

Remote Fleets
Directly controlled by the Committee for the Expansion of the Empire, the Remote Fleets are responsible for asserting Treecuu dominance over new space and planets and enforce and secure external borders. Ships with high endurance and range, like the Lootuu-class cruisers (see more below), are widely used. The Remote Fleets maintain extensive expeditionary capabilities. The Committee is responsible for their training and equipment. The personnel wear green/grey uniforms.

Mandate Fleets
The Mandate Fleets are responsible for the overall defence of individual mandates, forming a strategic reserve for the Remote Fleets and System Fleets. Commanded by the mandate's governor (who report directly to the Committee for the Expansion of the Empire), the Mandate Fleets are the Senate's and the Committee's foremost means of power projection within the Star Empire. The same ships are operated as in the Remote Fleets. The Committee is responsible for their training and equipment. The personnel wear green/grey uniforms.

System Fleets
The System Fleets are responsible for the local defence of individual star systems. The System Councils are in command of missions and deployment, while training and research and development are handled by the Authority for System Defence, a ministry of the Senate. The Committee for the Expansion of the Empire has little influence over its operations. The System Fleets are mainly equipped with Andoo- or Vaal-class frigates (see below). The number of ships in a fleet depends on the composition of the system, its population and strategic value. The personnel wear dark blue uniforms.

Planet Security Forces
The Planet Security Forces are responsible both for law enforcement and military defence on subject worlds and are under the direct control of the governor. Planets without subject species rely on a more traditional police for law enforcement.

Surface Forces
The Surface Forces are elite light infantry units that conduct strategic landing operations. Since a recent reform ordered by the Committee for the Expansion of the Empire, the Surface Forces lack the necessary ships to independently carry out landings outside their own system, but rely instead on transport by Remote Fleets or Mandate Fleets (or in rare cases by the System Fleets). The reform was labelled as a way to streamline organisation and save resources, but critics claim this is yet one of the Committee's ways of securing more power. The units are mainly stationed in the Ecteen, Candact and Bicaan Mandates.

Vessels of the Treecuu fleets
The Remote Fleets and the Mandate Fleets mainly consist of vessels built by companies owned by the Committee for the Expansion of the Empire. The Candact Yards is a main supplier. The System Fleets operate ships designed by the Authority for System Defence and are constructed locally. However, technology is widely shared between the different ship builders. The vessels used by the different fleets are comparable in terms of fire power, shielding and speed, and mainly differ in endurance and transport capabilites.

The vessels of the Remote Fleets and the Mandate Fleets are well-known for their light, streamlined and smooth design. The vessels of the System Fleets are darker and more angulate.
