RE: Truth and Reconcilation
#51

...

While I do think that it would be extremely helpful to the region's future for the Cabinet members to talk to us about what they did, why, and to what extent they recognize it as having been right or wrong, I think that under the circumstances the approach Unibot suggests would not get us that, and would instead unnecessarily exacerbate problems and potentially lead us down the long road to an ultimate collapse of faith in regional institutions entirely.

Furthermore, Unibot, I'm surprised that you both decided to withdraw your citizenship application out of concern it would exacerbate conflict (I believe) but then start a topic responding to an Assembly topic elsewhere. Was I mistaken about the motive behind your withdrawal?

You're seriously suggesting that requiring people serve parole could COLLAPSE faith in TSP's regional institutions entirely? If that's actually the case, that the rule of law cannot in any such way at all be maintained without the collapse of TSP's society, I would suggest TSP's regional institutions are already suffering from an ultimate collapse of faith.

First, I think we both know this is an ad hominem attack to avoid addressing the content of the proposal - which is far more reasonable than you're making it out to be. Second, I didn't withdraw my citizenship application to cut myself out of any and all discussion in TSP - I'm still a resident of TSP, Eluvatar. But I decided if I'm a citizen it'll bring out the same folks that usually apply for citizenship whenever I do, and I didn't think it'd help TSP in this dire time to have that peanut gallery hanging around - and then they applied for citizenship anyways, so bugger. I won't be applying for citizenship anytime soon however.

The law was changed more recently to allow residents to be charged with crimes under the Criminal Code.

I'm still waiting for Unibot to explain how such a loss of active, contributing people who are interested in reconciliation and helping make progress, for six months or more, benefits TSP. At all. I'm also still waiting for him to explain why TSP should take these steps against so many people now, when it granted a general amnesty to everyone but Milograd for a far more severe coup in 2013.

There really isn't much point in debating the merits of this further until we get really good answers to those two questions, because they really are at the core of the issue.

I'm sorry guys. This thread has gotten way, way off topic to the point of being harmful and counterproductive.

We have several other threads arguing the same thing. As such, I'm locking this thread.
