Kennan Consulate
#1

Hello, The South Pacific. I am the Sandwich Territories, and it is my honor, and the honor of the region of Kennan to have been friends with this region for a year, and hopefully we can continue on working together.

If for some reason anyone has any questions about what happens in Kennan (which is rather unlikely), I will answer them here. Otherwise, I will update this region about the monthly happenings from our region.
#2

I look forward to your updates! Happywide Welcome back to TSP!
#3

Alright, just wanted to let anyone know that the next update is going to be on or around June 1st.

Hello TSP!

I have to say that due to finals, I can't give the best of a report at the moment, and I can't find anyone else who doesn't have this issue, so I'll start off with what is important, and if there are any other details that have been left out, I'll update the region on those things soon.
------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to another edition of the Kennan Consulate Report. There have been some changes going on in the region, and I am once again here to tell the audience of 5 or so people who will see this what is happening in our small community.

Kennan Suffering From Activity Drought

The Kennan Regional Council in a Nutshell.

While the policies to restore the region's values of traditional order by the Sandwich Territories have worked, they have come with an expected price: a lack of activity. With the borders of Kennan shut, the number of users in Kennan effectively halved from 40 to 20. This has greatly decreased the amount of activity in the region, and this policy is expected to change in the coming days and weeks. However, the real tragedy is the lack of any new resolutions or actions by the Kennan Regional Council, which at one point was highly active and bustling, but now is as active as a sleep-deprived sloth. Quite a few reforms have been brought to the attention of the region over time by many nations, but few have ever been considered heavily, and even the ones that caught the attention of the region have not accomplished anything. As summer calls and the forums go to hell and back, it is expected for the region to once again gain the time it needs to rebuild the infrastructure of a once proud organization.

Increasing Militarism in Kennan

The Sandwich Territories preparing for a naval exercise.

As a result of the inactivity (from what we can guess), many nations started to increase their dominance in the region politically and militarily. Many nations conducted military exercises with each other, and a small conflict in Samukan had arisen when were political issues between them and Ethan Foley almost caused an international crisis between the two nations (which would have become the problem of the region), as armed rebels that not only support Ethan Foley, but "may or may not be backed" by the Ethan Foley government attacked many innocents in Samukan, which put a lot of international criticism on Samukan from Ethan Foley due to the killing of these rebels in what was called by Samukan as self defense.

However, oddly enough, the reverse trend seems to be happening at the moment, as some nations plan to open borders and increase interaction with the rest of the region. At the same time though, it seems as though some nations are dealing with the exact opposite, as these nations in particular are shutting down their borders and not being as vocal internationally as they once were. Only time will tell to see what is really happening in Kennan, but for now, all that can be done is to watch.

Computerized Sports: Uniting the Region?

Fighting players and uniting nations.

In what might be a rather large surprise, the region has had one attraction: sports. Kennan isn't known for it, and in fact, Kennan is historically highly against it as a regional pastime, but it seems as though as long as the human need for competition is around, so will things such as the Kennan Hockey League, which is, depending on who you are, either the most successful RP aspect of Kennan ever, or the worst thing to come upon Kennan ever. For most, it has slowly, and maybe even painfully become a part of the region.

However, many nations over time that come to Kennan have been shown to be attracted to the KHL and other events like it, and this is a good sign for not just the people involved in the KHL, but for the region (especially when the main concern for the region is growth). As of right now, this is the only thing pushing activity in the region, and while that is surely to change, it is important for the league to keep the high quality that it has, since some nations are already looking forward to next season. Either way, whether or not the KHL keeps its importance, it is a good sign that there is indeed some life in the region.

------------------------------------

That is all for now, if I missed anything, I will let you all know promptly. Thank you very much for reading another edition of the Kennan Consulate Report. Our next report is set to be for next month on or around July 1st, so we'll be reporting back to you by then. For now, so long, and a big congratulations to anyone/everyone who is graduating this year as well.

Hello TSP! This is the Hackleberry Islands, filling in for the Sandwich Territories (Who isn't feeling well.) for the most recent regional update.

Kennan Consulate Report: July 2014

Hello, and welcome to the July 2014 regional update of the Kennan Consulate to the South Pacific! Apologies for being a few days off course from our stated date earlier. And now, for the news;

Kennan Population Spikes

As a result of the Kennan Recruitment Program, the activity level of Kennan has suddenly spiked as over 10 new nations joined the community. As a result of this, the activity drought that plagued the region during May 2014 has fizzled from existence. Many of these new nations are anticipated to be long serving and influential members of the regional community, and have shown themselves to be so, at this point. Many of the region's oldest members are quite pleased to see some new faces on the RMB, and new voices in the RP community.

The Kennan Regional Government is expected to begin the drafting of more resolutions, with the increased activity levels. Some nations have talked of potential diplomatic RPs with these newer nations.

As a result, many nations can't keep up with the stampede of RMB posts and such that has resulted from the population spike.

Sandwich Wins Again! Kennan's Longest Serving Delegate Takes the Position Once More

In a unanimous first choice vote, the Sandwich Territories have once again won the title of WA Delegate of Kennan. As Kennan's oldest and longest serving delegate, the nation has proven itself as an active and experienced delegate. As a result of the activity spike, the July/August 2014 Elections had four nations vying for the title of WA Delegate:

- The Sandwich Territories

- Ethan Foley/Vinco (For re-election)

- The United Socialist States of Jakeopia

- The People's Rimpa

Many people expect the Sandwich Territories to be the stable and trustworthy delegate his reputation perceives him to be. Ready to lead, and with the position relabeled "Supreme Doge", many believe Sandwich's term will be "very leadership wow".

Heh, inside jokes. Doge. Heh...

Kennan Regional Council News: Resolutions Passed

There have been two major resolutions that have been submitted between the last update and this current update: Resolution #84, and Resolution #85;

---------------------------------------------------------

Resolution #84: Repealing Resolution #82

RECOGNIZING that Resolution #82: Temporary Closure of Borders was submitted and passed in response to issues arising from troublesome nations arriving from foreign regions, likely fleeing from just prosecution by their peers,

FURTHER RECOGNIZING that the nations of Kennan have collectively and unofficially decided to lift immigration restrictions in the belief that the region can now handle troublesome nations,

Hereby,

1. REPEALS Resolution #82: Temporary Closure of Borders.

Voting on this resolution will end on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 12:55 PM EST.

FOR: 1 (100%)
AGAINST: 0 (0%)

---------------------------------------------------------

Resolution #85: Secretary of Human Rights

RECOGNIZING that the Secretary of Human Rights has not been an actively-used position in the Kennan government,

FURTHER RECOGNIZING that there are very few official standards of human rights set by KRC resolutions,

Hereby,

1. GRANTS the Secretary of Human Rights the authority to declare regional standards of human rights;

2. GRANTS the Secretary of Human Rights the authority to launch investigations into alleged abuses of human rights, and to bring cases of violations of human rights to the regional court;

3. RESTRICTS the authority of the Secretary of Human Rights so that they may only operate within boundaries set by KRC resolutions (e.g., must obey national sovereignty).

Voting on this resolution will end on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 4:04 PM EST.

FOR: 5 (50%)
AGAINST: 5 (50%)

The KETO Relaunches

While Kennan is a relatively united region, most nations will tend to form relations with similar socioeconomic systems as their own, such as the nations within NATO and the Warsaw Pact during the 20th century. The Kennan Economic & Trade Organization (KETO) attempts to defy a similar ideological boundary separating the nations of Kennan, creating a trading network between all nations involved, without prejudice or bias, and ensuring all products and goods are traded freely and safely.

This economic and trade union has found its origins far into the "Kennan Cold War", and has quietly established itself as a sector of Kennan's government, with a multitude of nations slowly joining over a period of almost two years. KETO has yet to truly prove its power, but shows much promise, and is expected to take a higher precedence in Kennan's politics as the first KETO Procedural Directive was created by the one of the representatives of the organization's founding nation, Samukan:

---------------------------------------------------------

KETOPD-1: Abstentions and Voting Period

Written by Matt Warren - Samukan

During any vote made by the KETO:

1. The voting period will last 72 hours, unless an exception is made by the Chairman due to unusual circumstances.

2. Any member nations that do not vote during the voting period, or declare their abstention from the vote, will have their votes counted as abstentions. The final results of the vote will be determined by adding all abstentions to the plurality.

3. All KETO directives will require a simple majority to pass by default. The Chairman may require a supermajority (2/3) in order to pass if the directive is determined to be especially disruptive to the current state of affairs.

Additionally:

1. Voting on this directive will follow the rules that would be set by this directive if passed.

2. All following KETO directives will follow this directive as a formatting model.

Voting Period Ends: 2014-06-18 13:21 EST
FOR: 3
AGAINST: 0
ABSTENTIONS: 5

Passed

---------------------------------------------------------

While this Procedural Directive only outlines the voting procedures of the organization's legislature, it is certainly a step in the right direction for KETO. More information on the organization is expected in the next update.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for reading the newest regional update of the Kennan Consulate Report! Kennan's future looks promising in multiple aspects of regional politics and events, but that's another story for our update in August. We anticipate that Sandwich will get better soon, and we wish the South Pacific a good day/night. This is the Hackleberry News Network, signing off.

Welcome to another edition of the Kennan Consulate Report. Once again, this report will bring the information about our region to the very few people that will bother to read this (and my sincerest gratitude for those who do so).

The Never Ending KRC Drought

Picture from Latest KRC Meeting.

That error above isn't your browser failing. Rather, it is the KRC not doing a single thing. Even though the borders are open, and new nations have settled in, nothing new has been submitted to the floor as of June 29th, 2014 (at 4:04 PM, nonetheless). This trend is most likely to reverse itself as the summer ends and people get back from vacationing (as many other regions will more than likely suffer from a drought of activity due to the summer in the Northern Hemisphere ending). Hopefully, we can bring to you more info about the legislation that binds together our humble region, but it is hard to talk about nothing.

Diplomatic Woes

Kennan's "Preferred" Usage of Diplomacy...

Simply said, Kennan has been rather poor when it comes to being cordially diplomatic. And by Kennan, I mean mostly myself (as lucky me always has something wrong whenever I try to let the good Samaritans of TSP know that, we in Kennan do care). However, I myself would appreciate some feedback from the region. Basically, how can we make these reports easy to read, while any what enjoyable? What would make these reports better? Or are they fine as is? I would appreciate the feedback very much.

...Now what if I told you that this is all that we have?

Sadly, it is true...unless I missed something, this is all of the non-RP news that we have (and nobody cares about another region's RPs). This won't be the case usually, as most of us have been busy in the region for whatever reason, but for now it is. I apologize for the inconvenience. But hey, at least you didn't have to read too much.

Thanks for reading, once again. If I missed anything non-RP wise, I'll update this thread ASAP. If you actually want the RP news (which I highly doubt), just request t and it shall be provided ASAP.

Meanwhile, until the rest of us have to get busy, we shall continue to do this.

Have a good day.
