CSS Recall of Sam111

Of course not! So why do you still want Sam on the CSS? Sam willingly got involved in the coup and ejected a member of the community. I just cannot understand why you think a former couper would be a useful member on a group of people who's job it is to prevent and fight coups. Would you let a former murderer be on a group designed to help prevent murders? No!

All silliness aside.
I am still unsure what I want beyond the wish for this conversation to be intelligent. I am leaning more to keeping Sam on because of his post addressing the situation, for he has apologized with what j can only interpret as complete sincerity.

I'm not advocating tribalism. I'm saying it exists, you can't stop it, and you can't pretend it doesn't. So you might as well acknowledge it and work within it.

It is completely irrational to think that TSP can house diehard enemies and that there won't be fights all the time.

Unfortunately Sand, I refuse to accept tribalism, and I am extremely stubborn soo.

Also I would disagree, even if unintentional, by becoming emotional and derailing the topic you are helping open the door to tribalism and toxicity and allowing it to flourish.

Apologizing was the right thing to do. However you can't forget what he did. Some murders apologize yet would you let them back on the street? We have to think of our security here and even though Sam apologized he still coup the region and ejected someone. I am sure in the future we will all be able to forgive and forget that and give him a second chance. But for now we must think about our security and at what Sam has done.

I can't open a door that was never closed. Feel free to refuse accepting the existence of reality. But as long as we want a region that is open to diehard enemies, we will have to deal with tribalism.

I am one of the only long-term and experienced Gameplayers being honest about this right now. Belschaft, Wolf-- these aren't players that will ever be ok with me being in any position of power in TSP, because we are political enemies. It doesn't matter what admin reforms or government reforms are made; the underlying issue is that they don't like me and don't want me in power. That's 100% fine. What's not fine is acting like that isn't the case, and calling me toxic or divisive or intransigent for being the only one willing to point out the obvious truth here.

We can thrive in a region with deep political divides. But only if we have a culture shift that embraces those divides, rather than considers them shameful and unhelpful. There is no reason why Belschaft and I can't coexist in TSP, as long as we're able to just admit that we're opposed to each other politically, and we're not constantly forced into compromises that won't last and won't work.

That is, after all, how politics works. You recognize your rivalries, and you work within them. Sometimes you can agree to a compromise. On big issues, you can't and it merely becomes a game of who has the skill, power, and ability to win. That's usually what elections are for, and the losing side gets to fight another round in the next election.

We've done so many extreme things in this region because that's literally the only way for the pent up pressure to be released. What would be healthy for us is to change that. But I'm not sure there's the will to do that.

Oh that is an excellent point. Hmm, Punchwood, before I can make my individual decision I am going to need some self deliberation time, because you are very right, but I still have the other side of this arguement fresh in my mind that is also very correct. So thank you for this and know that it will have great weight in my final decision as a voter.

Pursuant to HCLQ1604, the mandated five-day discussion period will be restarted. This means that the discussion period will elapse Saturday, March 12 2016.

I hope that members will understand and appreciate the significance of this recall motion that the Assembly is undertaking.

I also expect members to act civilly and constructively during this second round of discussions on this recall motion, to ensure to the fullest extent possible that should the official involved in this recall motion be recalled, it will be on grounds of concrete evidence, and not simply baseless, emotional accusations.

Thank you.

Despite continuing to believe that Sam should be recalled, and should have been respectful enough of the region to resign, I will nonetheless respect the requests of Tsunamy and Drugged Monkeys and withdraw my secondment of the motion to vote.

While Cormac withdraws his second, my remains intact, fwiw.
