Working Group Drafts

One small thing- could there be a way to request a leave of absence from the chair? Let's say you will be offline for a week (as I will be at some point this summer) and you want to have legislator status when you get back, there should be a way for that to be allowed.
Above all else, I hope to be a decent person.

That can definitely be added in! Legislator status would be relatively easy to get, in either case.

Bel, I'm not going to indulge you. I have already explained who would be affected by the requirement that members of the CRS not participate in coups.

I don't think a campaign would be necessary, so we could just go with 3 days nominating, 3 days campaigning?

I mean, the only thing that needs to be done is to create a poll. I actually envisioned it more like a speakership election-- no private votes, all done on the public record. Because this is a legislature choosing it's chair, rather than citizens choosing their government.

A member of the EC can definitely be the one who creates the poll when necessary, For the sake of procedural clarity. I'll make that change later tonight, along with several others.

Oh right. But in my view, it still seems odd for the current Chair to be running elections, especially if said Chair is seeking re-election.

But if the people don't mind, then I don't either

I'm fine with that system, but what happens if there's a Chair election for reasons such as inactivity or recall?
#126

Or, the Chair is elected with the same procedure as the Cabinet, as outlined in the proposed Election Act. I think I'd prefer that.

Anybody could create a voting thread. It's not like a cabinet election. Everything is public.

But I'm going to change it so the EC creates the thread.

I have amended the Charter to reflect several changes. Additions are in red!

Some proofreading comments:

(04-28-2016, 10:45 PM)sandaoguo Wrote: 3. Executive elections will be held every four months, where the Prime Minister and all Cabinet positions will be up for election

Missing period here.

(04-28-2016, 10:45 PM)sandaoguo Wrote: 11. The executive may exercise the collective authority of executive orders, by unanimous consent among the Prime Ministers and Cabinet Ministers. Executive orders may only be issued to address an immediate and pressing issue created by ambiguity or holes in a particular law, which will immediately have the effect of law.

12. Upon declaring an executive order, the order will be presented automatically to the Assembly for three days of debate, followed by a vote according to legislative rules, where it will expire and its effects be reversed if the Assembly does not incorporate it into law.

Extra line break here.

Participation, in whole or in part and at any time, in any coup d’etat or invasion of the Coalition or any of its allies immediately and permanently will disqualify an applicant or sitting member from membership in the Council on Regional Security. Participation in normal raiding, defending, or liberation efforts as part of an organized military will not be considered a violation of this clause.

Can this be adjusted to read "....in any coup d’etat or invasion of the Coalition or any of its allies will immediately and permanently disqualify an applicant or sitting member from membership in the Council on Regional Security..."? I think it flows better this way.

You want me to split that pseudo-infinitive, Railana?!?!
