Amendment to Article IV, Section 4 of the Charter
#1

The following is an amendment to Article IV, Section 4 of the Charter. Voting will remain open for five days and requires 75% support to pass.

The amendment is a proposal to revise the threshold for the removal of Legislator status from failure to vote on two Bills to three Bills.

The debate concerning the proposed amendments can be found here.

The vote will end on 03 August 2016 at 1:50pm (GMT+8) A countdown timer is available here.

Quote:4. Continued legislator status requires active membership and good behaviour. The Chair will remove legislator status from any person failing to vote in the last two official Assembly votes held on separate days, unless the Chair has granted a leave of absence. The Chair will remove legislator status from any person absent for three non-concurrent Assembly votes; legislators who have an approved leave of absence from the Chair shall not be considered absent. Additionally, the Chair may suspend privileges for disruptive members. Frequent suspensions may be grounds for ineligibility, if found appropriate in a fair trial by the High Court.

With 96 Aye votes, 12 Nay votes and 15 Abstentions, I can report that 88.9% of regional WA members support this legislation. As the Local Council Representative to the Assembly, I would like to assign the block vote in a ratio of 9:1 in favour of Aye. Anticipating the block vote to come to six votes, this is best reflected by assigning five votes to Aye and one vote to Nay.
