[IC] Invitiation from Vimmru II to Ura'sia Yena Yamera-Hyudo
#21

A hand shot up from the crowd as the mic was passed to a Frost Journalist. "Hello, my name is Hayate Rin'en from the Zeirxen Daily based in Reizen, we would like to know if the relevant departments have been briefed with regards to the ES and increased security cooperation between both nations? We would also like to know if this increased security cooperation between your respective nations is a ploy to commit other foreign ground troops in Transunerria? This is in light of recent Sedunnic and Karnetvorian forces in deployed to maintain a fragile truce in Transunerria."

Vimmru had a few sips of water while the Frost journalist spoke.

"The need for common standards has been expressed by several parties in both nations; the work on the ES standards starts today. The work on the Declaration of Intent on Intelligence Cooperation was initiated months ago and has involved numerous departments." Vimmru slightly shifted position.

"And your second question... The instability and need for peacekeeping troops in Transsuneria is no secret. We seek a solution on Transsuneria's own terms, and the answer is openness and justice. We have no use for secretive ploys. The Declaration of Intent on Intelligence Cooperation provides the means of sharing intelligence in general and does not have a specific target. Our military intelligence resources will continue operations within current frames."

A short skinny man with a long white beard called for the microphone.

"Lenne Asktallu from the Sapetull-later here. I have a question for the Ura'sia. Sedunnic laws on selling military equipment to other nations are very strict. With the request for quotation on the VOT 14 system, I take it there is a mutual understanding of respective nation's foreign and security politics. What do Sedunnic and Erinoran policies have in common, and what are Erinor's plans for the next ten years in terms of foreign politics?"

Yena offered the Sedunnic journalist one of her warmest smiles.

"Erinoran foreign policy has basically been rebuilt from the ground up throughout 2016," she began. "As you may be aware, Erinor has been in a state of semi-isolation since the 70s and, despite some progress in our relations with smaller neighbours and trade partners, there was little attempt to build a strong international reputation, nor was any effort made to rebuild our military once the period of limitation was over."

"I have made it very clear that my government is going to change all that. We have already made a name for ourselves internationally with our improved embassy programs and now, with these new agreements with Sedunn, we are on the cusp of building something greater than we have had before. Erinor steps up to face a new era of international cooperation and Sedunn is an obvious choice for us to partner. We have similarly long histories and unique cultures, yes, but we also agree on the need for strong international leadership, for fairness and the ideals of socialist democracy."

"Over the next decade, we hope to continue to build Erinor's international profile and, personally, I want to see that shaped into a stronger international community as a whole. The SCO as we know it seems to have failed, and that is disappointing, but that does not mean there isn't room for nations making ever-closer ties and alliances and I hope to see something better replacing it."

Another Frost Journalist asked for the microphone, "Isaki Kurenai of the Imperial Tribune here with a question to both Ura'sia and King. Given the importance of educating the next generation of leaders, what is the focus of foreign exchange program and how will both states alleviate the financial burden of students who wish to enroll in the Sedunno-Erinoran exchange program?"

Yena took to the micorphone first.

"That's an excellent question and one I'm pleased to provide at least a partial answer for. As a progressive government, we are keen to make it easier for our students to visit other nations to study and to allow foreign students to enrich our nation as well. We have a long history of education inequality, however, and it is a priority of this government's first term in office to improve education access to all citizens of Erinor. As a result, we have recognised that we would not be able to afford free tuition for international students and have, instead, opted to provide subsidy only, substantial, though that might be.

"It saddens me that we are forced to make such a choice, but no government has infinite resources and it is my hope that, in future, we'll be able to focus resources more on international exchange to make the process of mutual enrichment ever-more rewarding."

She glanced towards Vimmru.

Vimmru nodded along and spoke up when Yena finished.

"Given the economical limitations, Erinor has been very generous. I am convinced the subsidies will help many students take the step."

"The new education platform we are launching in 2017 will, among other things, enable us to offer international students tuition-free admission. This also includes most other nations. For Sedunnic students wishing to study abroad additional beneficial loans are offered."
