Diagram of the political system of GI-Land
Dictatorial Democracy - Maybe you've heard of this before and asked you "What is this for a system? How can you put something so contrary together in one system?"
Here is the answer, at least the GI-Landian one.
We want to explain the diagram above for you in a few sentences and tell you one or another special thing about our system.
Feel free to ask questions, if you've got some!
The People
The people are the base of the system and souvereign.
They can influence the legislations through referendums and got fundamental rights and freedoms, but also duties.
Every four years, they got the possibility to elect their national parliament, the Königspalast.
Every five years, they may elect the state parliament of the state, they're living in.
The State Parliaments
GI-Land is a Federal Republic and so, it got three states.
These states are Klein GI-Land, Atlantis and Groß GI-Land. Each state got its own parliament and, for some subjects, its own laws.
An important role by setting these laws are playing the State Parliaments.
Getting elected by the people every five years, they vote for or against a bill of the State Government with a bare majority (50% of the votes + 1 vote).
The Parliaments can also propose a bill to their Government, if it passed the bare majority before.
Furthermore this organ is electing the State President, who is Head of Government in the state. The State President chooses his ministers by himself.
The State Governments
The State Governments consist of their elected State Presidents and the, by the State President, chosen State Ministers.
They determine the state budget and can propose bills to the State Parliament. Bills proposed by the State Parliament need the approvement of the State Government to get passed.
Anyone, who is member of a State Government, is, at the same time, member of the Counsil.
The Constitutional Court
The Constitutional Court checks every legislation, if it is consistent with the constitution. If the court negates this consistency, a period of time of three months is set to change the law, otherwise it can't get passed. Furthermore it checks on the Leader and King (short: Leader).
Königspalast
The national parliament of GI-Land is the Königspalast. It's getting elected every four years by the people.
It checks on the Leader, elects the Chancellor and can propose bills to the Chancellor, Leader and Counsil, if a bare majority is reached. An exception depicts an amendment of the constitution. To propose such an amendment by Königspalast, it needs a 2/3-majority.
Every law, that should get passed, needs a bare majority in Königspalast (Amendments of the Consitution [AotC]: 2/3).
The Senate
The Senate consists of the Counsil, the Chancellor and the Ministers.
It's only a collective term for these organs, but has no seat or own building.
The Head of the Senate is the Chancellor.
The Counsil
The Counsil consists of every State Government, so every State President and its Ministers are part of the Counsil.
With a bare majority, the organ can propose a bill to the Chancellor (AotC: 2/3).
Every law needs technically a bare majority in the Counsil, but the votes of it doesn't count as much as those of the Leader and of the Königspalast.
They got only the same power, when voting for AotC. An AotC always needs the approval of the Leader and the Chancellor and a 2/3-majority in Königspalast and in the Counsil.
The Chancellor
The Chancellor is perhaps the second most important person in the state. As Head of the Senate, he gets elected by the Königspalast and suggests the Ministers for GI-Land.
He gets appointed and suspended by the Leader and can propose bills to the Counsil, the Leader and the Königspalast.
His approval is necessary, if the constiution should be changed or for laws, that get proposed by the Counsil or the Ministers.
The Ministers
The Ministers get suggested by the Chancellor and appointed/suspended by the Leader.
It has particularely a role as a counsellor for the Leader, the Counsil and the Königspalast.
Plus the Ministers can suggest bills to the Chancellor.
The Leader and King
The Leader and King is the most important politician in GI-Land.
He appoints and suspends the Chancellor, the Ministers and the judges of the Constitutional Court, has the command of the Bundesarmee (Army) and determines GI-Land's budget.
Every law needs his authorisation. He can propose bills directly to the Counsil and the Königspalast by himself.
The Königspalast and Constitutional Court checks on him.
Another important information: The current family in power, is in power for a lifetime and can't get unelected!
A coup is prosecutable.
What if the Leader dies unexpected (naturally) or he doesn't have any descendants?
In this case, a new Leader gets elected directly by the people for five years (Basically we're getting an elective monarchy).
After four years in power, a referendum is hold, where the people get asked, whether they want to elect a new leader after the fifth year or not. If the answer is "No", the Leader gets five more years in power. In the ninth year, there is again this referendum etc., but the people may have a petition for a referendum as of the sixth year to hold elections for presidency.
That's the difference between the referendums on this subject after 4/9/14/19/etc. years and those referendums wanted by the people:
The first type needs no petition. The Leader has to hold these referendums whereas the other ones are not obligatory, so they need a base in the public.
Is there a kind of national state of emergency?
The Leader can officially announce a national state of emergency for a maximum of six months. In this time, he can temporarily restrict the fundamental rights and freedoms of the people. Plus he doesn't need the approval of the Chancellor and the 2/3-majority of the Counsil for amendments of the constitution. Amendments of the consitution can get passed by a bare majority in the Königspalast. Nevertheless he still needs the approval of the Constitutional Court for all laws, that get passed in this time, but since the nation's in a state of emergency, the time for adjustments on the laws is shortened to a maximum of two weeks.
The state of emergency can get extended with a 2/3-majority of the Königspalast and the Counsil.
After the end of this state, the Chancellor and the Ministers get suspended, all parliaments (and so the Counsil too) get dissolved. New elections are taking place the latest two weeks after the end of the state of emergency.
What if the Parliament works against the Leader?
If the Parliament works against the Leader, latter can announce the parliamental state of emergency caused through inaction.
The Counsil's vote is now worth more than the vote of Königspalast (normally other way round).
If the Counsil works against him too, the Leader can get the Königspalast dissolved and new elections are set up.
What if the People want a new Leader and King?
Basically there isn't anything, that could be done in this case, but the Leader always has the possibility to resign from his position and even resign all of his family from their claim of the throne. In this case, everything is done like explained in question 1. The former Leader can candidate for Presidency again of course.
What if the Leader is temporary unable to govern?
In the case, that the Leader doesn't have a successor to the throne or a First Lady, the Leader's tasks get distributed on the other organs.
The Königspalast now appoints and suspends (latter through vote of no confidence) the Chancellor and the Ministers.
The Chancellor appoints the judges of the Constitutional Court, while a suspension through him is only possible with a bare majority of both, the Counsil and the Königspalast.
Amendments of the Constitution are illegal.
The command of the Bundesarmee lies now at the Chancellor and the Minister of Defense.
If the Leader got a successor to the throne or a First Lady, every task of the Leader gets transferred to them (Successor > First Lady).
Amendments of the Consitution are nevertheless illegal in this period of time.
If there are any questions left, we will answer them willingly.

HOW GET THE GI-LANDIAN PARLIAMENTS ELECTED?
MMP and PMMP
The Town and State Parliaments
The Town and State Parliaments get elected with the MMP-system.
You've got the right to vote as of 14 for town, so very small, very local elections. Passive electoral rights on this level you've got as of 16.
As of 15 you can vote on the state parliament of your state, but you don't have the passive rights until the age of 18.
The Königspalast-Election
GI-Land used to have a special MMP system until the Königspalast-elections in 2013, where we had MMP without overhang seats.
In February 2017 however, only a few months before the next election for the Königspalast, there were motions within the parliament to change the system, to make it fairer and to represent the people better.
The ministers of political education and research as well as some foreign professors, including one from Ryccia, came, together with the former king of Atlantis, up with the idea of the PMMP-system - Preferential Mixed-Member Proportional.
It's kind of a mix out of MMP and SVP. It represents the people better, while also having a fixed number of MPs in the parliament, so no overhang seats.
The Königspalast consists of 650 MPs. Every MP is responsible for one constituency.
How does voting with PMMP work now?
Let me explain it in a little diagram:
I hope you can understand it. If not, please feel free to ask. It can really be confusing admittedly.

Parties of GI-Land
Ok, you know now how the dictatorial democracy in GI-Land works and you even know now, what voting system we are using for the big elections in GI-Land.
But whom could you vote for?
Of course the parties, but I guess, you never heard of the GI-landian parties, so here's a list of GI-landian parties.
Current Parties in Government
Sozialliberale Partei (SLP)
Social Liberal Party
The Social Liberal Party is the party of Leader Gianluca IV and got founded originally in 1998 by his father King Axel I.
Since 2006 they're sitting in the national parliament and since then they also are in power over GI-Land. Between 2010 and 2013 they even had an absolute majority in parliament, which was also a reason why the incorporation of Atlantis got backed with most of the votes in parliament.
Also they sit in the parliament of the state of Gianlucaland since 2004, also being the governing party there since then.
The party's colour is turquoise.
Ideology: They are pragmatic, humanistic, progressive and central-left promoting a social-market economy. The goal is to provide everyone a decent life, while also keeping in mind that sometimes huge, modern problems require drastic, modern solutions. Still they don't want to meddle too much into the individual's freedom, if possible.
Main topics of the party are education, infrastructure, immigration and foreign relations.
Piratenpartei GI-Lands (PPG)
Pirate Party of GI-Land
The Pirate Party is a party founded in 2006, which managed to get into parliament in 2013 and are in power on the national level since 2017.
They are a very young party: The average member is just around 28 years old and this makes itself also noticeable in their program.
The party's colour is orange.
Ideology: They are pretty left-leaning and sometimes can't balance their social-liberalism equally. The more socialist wing is almost as strong as the liberal one, which gives viewers of their rallies the possibility to experience very interesting discussions on livestreams every few months.
Their core subjects are not only that they want to reform the copyright laws, but that they also want entirely new takes on GI-Land's drug and security policy and also that the Internet plays an even bigger role than it does right now.
Grüne
Greens
The Green Party got founded in 1977 and first got into the national parliament as well as into the state parliaments in 1979. In 1995 they were having the opportunity to govern GI-Land for the first time together with the Social Democrats. Their foundation was based on several ecological movements upon the first news of scientists that there will be a man-made climate change. Another big factor into the foundation of the party played the development of nuclear weapons by GI-Land since 1967 and the build-up of several nuclear power plants without having a real plan on how and where to store the nuclear waste safely that'll get produced by them.
The party's colour is neon-green.
Ideology: Environmentalism - They promote very green politics and a very green life style, paired with a social-market economy that'll back everyone in society up to fulfill their dreams as long as they are sustainable for the country and the planet. They're against nuclear weapons or power plants and for a more liberal drug policy.
Current Parties in Königspalast
Sozialdemokratische Partei (SDP)
Social Democratic Party
The Social Democratic Party is the oldest party of GI-Land. They got founded in 1845 and were originally a party with pretty socialist views. In the first 20 years of existence they could manage to give workers better rights and protection and with that set the basis for the social-market economy that got developed in GI-Land over the next century.
In the democratic Gianlucian state they haven't gotten into power until 1971 though, back then in a coalition with the conservative Value Party, that doesn't exist anymore nowadays.
The party's colour is red.
Ideology: Like the name says, they are social democrats. Some wings have a tendency to democratic socialism though. Also they're in general pretty pacifist.
Linke GIs (LGI)
Left Gianlucians
The LGI is a party founded in 1954 directly after the end of the Great War on Gianlucian territory. It hoped to get a majority in the constitutional assembly and with that establish a socialist nation in GI-Land, since they didn't trust the SDP to be vigorous enough in that aspect. They failed with that plan and were pretty much non-existent until 2000, when they suddenly were present in polls. Most voters that voted them into parliament in 2002 were disappointed by the SDP and Greens. The politics were seen as not left enough, which gave the LGI the possibility to prove they'll stand up for those voters in Gianlucastadt (and later Atlantis).
The party's colour is dark red.
Ideology: Leftist - anything socialist. There is a small wing of anarchists and communists and also a bigger wing of realists, that want to establish democratic socialism in GI-Land. Also they are pacifist, want GI-Land to work together with Bruuma and other extreme-left-wing governments. They were against the incorporation of Atlantis in 2011.
Königsparty des Hauses Atlantis (KPHA)
King's Party of the House of Atlantis
The KPHA got founded in 2013 just in time for the elections. Back then it only consisted of the House of Atlantis and some of their former staff, but since 2018 people got allowed to join the party even if they aren't part of the royal family. They got voted into parliament the first time in 2017.
The party's colour is purple.
Ideology: In 2017 they were the party finally filling the vacuum of moderate conservatism the Value Party has left in 2013. They promote Atlantic values like a strong and disciplines army, environmentalism and tradition. The head of the party is the former king of Atlantis Ikaros VIII., who is seen responsible from the Atlantic side for signing the treaty to incorporate Atlantis into GI-Land.
Other big Parties outside Königspalast
Atlantische Volkspartei (AVP)
Atlantic People's Party
The AVP got founded in 2010 as a an opposing movement against the incorporation of the Kingdom of Atlantis into the Federal Republic of GI-Land. After the incorporation happened they developed themselves into a party that's in favour of an Atlantic seperatist movement. The party got elected into state parliaments since 2011, but was only in Königspalast between 2013 and 2017. Most voters got lost to the more moderate KPHA around the former king Ikaros VIII.
The party's colour is dark blue.
Ideology: Atlantic nationalist conservatism. In general they want to re-establish the pure Atlantic kingdom, but would put to the vote if the house of Atlantis should be the ruling family again or if the people would prefer the house of von Neptunsberg, the family the party leader belongs to. On a foreign politics level they're in favour of isolationism, with the only exception that they would like to be in closer contact to the old Atlantic tribes in Snolland and Hazelbrust.
Freiheitspartei GI-Lands (FPG)
Freedom Party of GI-Land
The FPG got founded as Liberale Partei (LP; Liberal Party) first in 1900 as further opposition against the social democrats and the christian conservatives. They wanted to influence the king to do more progressive politics that include all people not depending on their gender, nationality or social status. Also they wanted to get rid off the social democratic worker's protection laws or at least wanted to lower the standards given out by them. In general they failed with that just like the successor of them, the Freie Demokratische Partei (FDP; Free Democratic Party) failed in 1954 to get enough seats in the constitutional assembly to establish a total free market economy.
In 1979 they got into power for the first time in a coalition together with their former enemies: The social democrats. Soon they switched over to the conservatives as their partners though. In 2017 they missed to get enough votes to get into national parliament again, which gave them the possibility to reform themselves. In 2019 they refounded themselves as FPG.
The party's colour is yellow.
Ideology: The party wants the economic system to be a free market economy. They're in general against the nation's "exaggerated" social policies as they're too expensive for the middle class. Also a big subject for them is education as they believe that this is the only thing needed to establish full equal opportunities.
Small Parties (Left Wing/Centrist)
Kommunistische Partei (KOMMIES)
Communist Party
The party got founded in 1889 and was the more extreme version of the SDP back then. They got many supporters shortly before the national-socialist period began in 1933, but after that they were pretty much meaningless again up until today, except that they had 3 members in the constitutional assembly.
The party's colour is bright red.
Ideology: They want to establish communism, in doubt by force. And this doesn't only apply to GI-Land, but also to other countries in the South Pacific, which is why they get surveillanced by the Gianlucian secret service. Allegedly a para-militaristic underground organisation is affiliated to them.
DIE Partei
THE Party
The party is a satirist party founded in 2006 that got famous by provocative election advertisment videos against the established parties.
The party's colour is gold.
Ideology: They're left-leaning and satirist. They wish for more transparency and very humane politics.
Katzenpartei GI-Lands (KPG)
Cat Party of GI-Land
This party got founded in 2007 and has as its main goal to not only improve all laws regarding animal rights, but also to establish the cat king as the real, official king and to overcome human kings. Political scientists themselves aren't 100%ly sure how seriously this party can get taken.
The party's colour is white.
Ideology: Animal Protection is very high on the agenda. Another main topic isn't really existing.
Partei für Tierschutz (ParTi)
Party for Animal Protection
This party got founded in 2011 and is only eligible in the former territories of Atlantis. It's like the Atlantic version of the Greens so to say, that didn't want to let themselves get incorporated, since they detest the Greens for having not done enough regarding animal righs in the time of their first years in government (1995-2006).
The party's colour is Dark Green
Ideology: Environmentalism and animal protection are on the agenda here. The program is pretty much the one of the Grüne, just that they stress they would do the stuff they write down in their program for real unlike the Greens.
Spirituelle Partei GI-Lands (SPG)
Spiritual Party of GI-Land
This party got founded in 2006 shortly before the elections to the new parliament. It believes that politics aren't spiritual enough and that whatever they want to decide, it all needs to be in accordance with the cycle of nature. They are part of the ICPA.
The party's colour is pink.
Ideology: They believe problems will solve itself in some way, if intuition and karma take over the wheel of politics. They don't have a solid opinion on most topics, except that they condemn hate, since "love will always be the answer".
Small Parties (Right Wing)
Ökonomische Lobbypartei (ÖLP)
Economic Lobby Party
This party got founded in 2012 and wants a more radical course than the FPG even, since they don't only want a free market economy, but also support even more technocracy and wishes to change the political system into an oligarchy of the well-situated that can buy their votes for certain laws.
The party's colour is a dark orange.
Ideology: Economical right wing that supports intransparent lobbyism and oligarchic developments in GI-Land.
Konservativ-Nationale Partei (KNP)
Conservative National Party
This party got founded in 2014 as successor of the dissolved WPG, but with a more nationalist twist. Like the AVP it supports nationalism and isolationism, but not with Atlantic history and traditions in mind, but Gianlucian history, traditions and values.
Ideology: National Conservatism and Isolationism
Aktion Direkte Demokratie (ADD)
Action Direct Democracy
The party got founded in 2008 and its only goal is to establish direct democracy in GI-Land. They don't follow a certain ideology officially, but political scientists see them more in the right-wing of the political spectrum.
The party's colour is a black-red.
Militaristische Partei GI-Lands (MPG)
Militaristic Party of GI-Land
This party got founded in 1978 against the Greens to support the development of Gianlucian nuclear weapons and was only 1% off of joining the parliament in 1979. In the end they vanished into the depths of meaninglessness very soon again. The party wants the government to spend way more on military, because GI-Land would get threatened by all its partners in the world.
The party's colour is brown.
Ideology: They are militaristic and want the army to have way more power again and to get funded better. Also they support the establishment of a secret police force like in the times of national socialism in GI-Land. Political scientists see them as fascist overall, not only because of their logo, which is also the reason why they get surveillanced by the secret service.
Partei der Volksgemeinschaft (PVG)
Party of the Ethnic Community
This party is the unofficial successor of the banned national-socialist party after 1954. It never got a seat in any parliament.
The party's colour is black.
Ideology: They're pretty openly national socialist and get surveillanced because of that. They see GI-Land as in general superiour and see the possibility to cleanse GI-Land from any "bad influences" like "Huwanian muslims that want to take over us and then the world" or "the small Atlantic tribes that need to get under our control". They don't accept the treaty of 1955 which let GI-Land lose it's sovereignity over Hazelbrust and are big supporters of exporting jews, muslims and other minorities into their "home countries" (whatever they are).
Small Parties (Religious Extremists)
Shalom - Jüdische Partei (SHALOM)
Shalom - Jewish Party
The Jewish Party got founded in 1921 and was one of the main opponents of the national socialists. Over the decades it developed itself into a more and more radical, fundamentalist party that now gets surveillanced by the secret service.
The party's colour is dark blue.
Ideology: They want to build up a religiously fundamentalist nation based on orthodox Judaism.
Christliche Wertepartei (CWP)
Christian Value Party
This party is the official successor of the more moderate Christliche Zentrumspartei (Christian Centrist Party; CZP) that was founded in 1850. Like the other religiously extremist parties it gets surveillanced by the secret service.
The party's colour is white.
Ideology: They want to build up a religiously fundamentalist nation based on Christianity.
Partei des Wortes Allahs (PWA)
Party of the Words of Allah
This party got founded in 2015 and especially wants to work together with other more extreme Muslim communities around TSP. Allegedly quite a few mosques in GI-Land are affiliated to them in some way. The party gets surveillanced by the secret service.
The party's colour is Dark Green.
Ideology: They want to build up a religiously fundamentalist nation based on Islam.
Former Parties
Wertepartei GI-Lands
Value Party of GI-Land
The party got founded in 1867 and was even in power between 1955 and 1975 and between 1983 and 1991. Four legislature periods they even had an absolute majority in parliament.
Since 1991 though they dropped heavily in the polls until they didn't even get into any state parliament in 2011 and then not even into the national parliament in 2013 anymore.
They dissolved themselves after the election, which they lost mainly due to a donation scandal. Some of the members have founded the KNP.
The party's colour was black.
Ideology: Conservatism
Genderpartei (LGBTQ+)
Gender Party
The short life of the party began in 2014 and ended already after the elections in 2017. Most members moved to the PPG.
The party's colours were the rainbow colours.
Ideology: Left-Liberalism/Democratic Socialism/Feminism
Partei der Familien und Rentner (PFR)
Party of the Families and the Retired
This party was another conservative party only eligible in the former territories of Atlantis founded in 2011. They dissolved itself in 2018, since the members were able to join the new, strong, conservative party KPHA.
The party's colour was bronze.
Ideology: Classical Conservatism with a heavy focus on family and pension politics.
Freie Demokratische Partei (FDP)
Free Democratic Party
See above "FPG" for history and ideology!
