Looks like Wilders has lost. Full results aren't in yet, but most reckon Rutte will remain the PM. Thank God.

The results of the 16th March 2017, 12:50 h (GMT+1, >93% of the votes counted):

VVD (People's Party [Mark Rutte, current President]): 33 seats
PVV (Freedom Party [Geert Wilders]): 20 seats
D66 (Liberal progressives): 19 seats
CDA (Christian Democrats): 19 seats
GL (Greens): 14 seats
SP (Socialists): 14 seats
PvdA (Labour): 9 seats
CU (Christian Union): 5 seats
PvdD (Pro Animals): 5 seats
Others: 12 seats

Rutte has lost MPs in the parliament and now needs the support of at least three more parties to govern (76 seats needed). Coalition talks will start immediately, but could take months to finalise, especially because no major party would want to form a coalition with Wilders' PVV.

Jean-Claude Juncker (EU-president), Angela Merkel (German chancellor), François Hollande (French president), Guy Verhofstadt (Leader of the ALDE-coalition in the EU-parliament) and Mariano Rajoy (Spanish prime minister) already congratulated Rutte for his win and see the victory as a sign against right-wing populism and are all happy, that the dutch people seem to remain a common sense.

Nicolas Bay (secretary general of the Front National in France) said, he was encouraged by the gains of Wilders, while Frauke Petry (leader of the German Alternative für Deutschland) is a bit disappointed and would have awaited a better victory for her dutch counterpart.
Turkish officials however stated, there would be "no difference" between the ruling dutch liberals and the "fascist" anti-immigration politician Wilders.

Australian elections rarely fall below 95%, due to our compulsory voting. Still, it's a lot better than all of Europe Smile

Wait, the US election isn't at 60%. It's in the 50s. The reason why Trump won is because people didn't show up (remember that Clinton was unpopular too).

I used the german Wikipedia and the source of this number was this:
http://www.electproject.org/2016g

If the numbers are somehow incorrect, I'm sorry and I'll edit it.

EDIT: The same source was linked here (http://www.uswahl.lpb-bw.de/wahlverhalten_grafik.html) and at the 20th December it lay at 58.9% as it seems.

2nd EDIT: While researching I found out, that there are inconsistencies for the Presidential Election 2012 too, where some sources are saying around 58% v.p. existed, while others talk about 61%. I guess, because it's "only" around 3%, that this is some kind of normal statistical error, present in many polls too.

It's alright. The numbers are just estimates. It's just that it's unusual for 60% of Americans to vote since many of my fellow Americans don't even take the time to vote. They have the right and opportunity to do something that so many people in the world do not have the right to do and they don't even take advantage of it. Saddening.

That's right. My grandmother, born and raised in the nazi-dictature has a nice saying: Voting right means using his vote/compulsory voting.
