Wait, there's a discord? Was I meant to know about this, or is this new?

Further to the wirting challenge above, I should point out (if you haven't seen it already) that there's a writing competition for the Celestial Unicorn Lampshade Triumvirate festival, which you can read about and submit entries to here. It would be a nice way to show off our existence by actually writing some things for it, eh? Tounge

The Lost Link

Long ago, creatures called "humans" roamed the globe. Now, angels and gnomes fight each other in the galaxy, warring for planets and systems.

Little did they know that they were descendents of the lost beings known as Homo sapiens sapiens. They were Homo angelus and Homo parvus, two species who never saw their common ancestry.

Earth was also lost. To the angels, it was planet H-7578-3. To gnomes, it was Sol-3. None knew that this spheroid was the origin of both of them. They had legends of where they originated, but they always varied from region to region, system to system, planet to planet, and sometimes there were conflicting tales in planets themselves.

What a coincidence it was, however, that these rivals sent exploration teams to their lost home. One was headed by the angel Alissia Verekomesse. The gnome's group was headed by Zinkoties Mokamai.

As they came closer to the rocky, circle-shaped object, both sensed each other in their radar. Must be nothing, both sides said. 'It couldn't be that us, the superior angels/gnomes, would be at the same technology level to reach H-7578-3/Sol-3. Surely! This must be an error", they thought.

As they landed on the surface of what was long, long, long ago the continent known to the humans as Europe, they saw something unimaginable. An architectural structure, primitive of course, in an unknown planet devoid of life?

Both dug and scanned the ground to see if there was any fossil around, as the planet had the necessary elements for life. And there were many, each resembling an animal they've known in other parts of the vast universe. And then, as their shovels struck true, the both parties met.

They took out their laser guns and electro-spears, threatening each other and demanding that they retreat. Both refused, obviously.

So then, they agreed to not fight themselves and to not report the incident. This is since the mission could result in failure if there was a bloodbath.

They dug again. And both explorers found a certain fossil that looked like them, but not quite. It didn't have the wings of an angel, nor the small stature of a gnome. It was just a plain homonid.

They took their samples of their fossilized strangers, and did a DNA analysis. They compared the samples to their own, and found the gate to their past.

The test resulted that this specimen in a remote rock in the middle of nowhere was, in fact, related to both angels and gnomes. The two sides could not be more shocked. 'How can the barbarian heathens be our brothers in terms of species?!', they pondered.

And so, when the findings were sent to their governments, they wouldn't believe this blasphemous and false theory. But, as more scientists investigated for themselves, they came to the same conclusion.

The barriers were broken. What was once thought of a superior or inferior species in both sides was now disproven, as both descended from the Homo sapiens sapiens, meaning that they had a biological link. And so it was that, two centuries later, now they saw that these bloody wars between siblings was pointless, and they finally made peace.

What a pleasant surprise that was, @Ryccia! Thank you. A quick edit suggestion, though: you've accidentally copied a section of the middle of your story at the bottom. You might want to clean it up. Smile

I'll try and give more detailed feedback later.

Yeah, I'm actually using an old tablet since my phone is not working, and there was more of the story there that I accidentally double-pasted, but I couldn't delete that remaining bit. At this time, after trying in vain to delete all of it, I basically said "F*** it" and left it like that.
