Star Wars: The Last Jedi (spoilers hidden)
#11

There's some truth to that.

I also tend to view movies mostly in terms of the story, rather than things like photography, CGI or writing. The only time something like writing was so egregious as to make me notice was the last Transformers. I would've shot myself if I had to hear again the words "I am Optimus Prime". For the most part though, I simply don't notice what people mean when they complain about bad CGI or poor dialogue, in any movie.

Then you have the Prequels, with a fairly political story, Jedi at their prime, a tragic hero plot. If I tend not to notice what people usually consider flaws, and actually like some aspects that are usually consider flaws, it's no wonder I like the Prequels. Tounge

Same with the Sequels really. I don't mind stuff like cinematography or writing, but as you'll have noticed, I have serious issues with the story. From where I stand, they focus too much on fan service (TFA) and distancing (TLJ), instead of telling a story that's consistent with the established canon.

Granted, I tend to value stuff like a political plot and a tragic hero, which is why Kylo Ren is probably the one thing I like from the Sequels. He's a really intriguing character, and I very much enjoy watching his evolution. His interactions with Hux (unlike Hux's interactions with Poe -_-) are fantastic. That's also why I was so disappointed when they barely showed the New Republic before destroying it, and showed nothing of the First Order aside from its military, there being so much potential to show how the Galaxy had changed.

Also, why do so many people dislike AotC? Sad It's such a good movie; it has conspiracy, political intrigue, romance, war. The scenes in Geonosis are amazing, seeing the Jedi fight en masse for the first time ever, seeing Yoda fight, witnessing Anakin's slow fall to the dark. There's so much to like in AotC.

*Looks around*

I really liked the movie, I don't get the hate I've seen towards it.

I was told by someone that, if I disliked TFA, I would be favourably surprised by TLJ.

I was even more disappointed than with TFA. :/

I've tried to watch it three times and fallen asleep each time, so I can't really comment on it.
