Time and technical ability. We can alter the looks of an existing theme (and have!) But creating a new theme is a big undertaking.

So ... I may have missed something in this thread, but perhaps we should decide forums and such before buying a theme or else we'll be putting lipstick on a pig ...

If we do, then we can just organize the forum in whichever way is most logical, but if we don't, then we need to worry more about placing things in an intuitive manner for new, unknown people.

Port Berry, as proposed, would be for the latter scenario, probably.

Brief thought: I don't think it's necessary to have front-facing Cabinet, CRS, LC, or whatever subforums. They are rarely used and just clutter things. Announcements and statements can go into the announcements forum.

I think simplifying will go a long way toward making it more intuitive, particularly for newer generations that did not grow up in an internet forum culture as many of us did.

What is the most friendly structure you can think of?

After much consideration (literally months Tounge ), I think Amerion's suggestion is, as-is, already quite excellent. My biggest suggested change would be to the Fudgetopia Government Center - I'd radically cut out all front-facing forums there. Announcements from government institutions would just reside in the Announcements forum. However, the back end institution forums would reside within the Fudgetopia Government Center, and only be visible for those for whom it's relevant. That gives a nice lean overview and means that people who belong to an institution can quickly, from the front-page, find what they need.

My suggestions are always excellent Tounge

I assume you will be making these changes soon? Or will they need the other admins to approve as well?
