[DISCUSSION] Forum Reorganization
#21

We can pimp it to however we like. It's just a matter of the correct admin motivation coefficient, as always.

What is your proposal for this logical organisation and how does it differ from the current setup?

I also quite like what Europeia has with their forum headers and the links within it. Is a similar thing possible here?

As would I, but it needs to be a decent theme. I’ve entertained the thought of purchasing a premium theme, which usually runs $20-30. But I’m not sure I want to commit to that if everybody’s not on board with the theme.

Is a premium theme worth the money?

Typically, yes. It’s also the only way to get a truly mobile responsive theme.

Personally, despite them being against the regular colour scheme of TSP, Triangles and Orange(s) are what I'd suggest. Duende and Zen are pretty good as well.

Of course, I wouldn't mind if you picked otherwise, especially if it is for more technical reasons.

In all honesty, I don't really see the need for a premium theme. If our purpose is to unify the forum under one professional-looking theme then I would argue that 'square' does a perfectly adequate job. All the more so when a vast majority of the premium themes look vaguely similar to it. Unless there are more tangible benefits other than mobile-friendliness, it will be very hard to reason spending 20 euros ...

Can a theme like square be built upon and improved?

Edit: will we set up a fund to purchase this theme rather than have the burden fall on one individual?

I’m going to be honest, I loathe the Square theme. It’s not particularly well made and isn’t mobile friendly. The primary reason for a premium theme, in my mind, is having a theme that actually works well on mobile. Tapatalk just isn’t paying much attention to their MyBB plugin.

If you need a new theme, make it looks like the West Pacific's forum. Their forum looks friendly, flat, and it hides away information that people don't need. Also, the new theme needs to make links to important threads more visible and omit the Calendar, Help,... buttons at the top.

Square is the easiest to customize in these aspects. Although I personally prefer Flatty which is also free and looks good.

Interesting. I happen to love the square theme Tounge

If we do proceed down the road of a premium theme, could it please be our sole theme?
