[WITHDRAWN] AB1906.02: Amendment to Articles one and two: Legislator Committee Act
#21

But if they are going to be processing both the legislator applications and the ministry applications, this either means the Minister has to be a member of the Legislator Committee, or the Minister doesn't get to choose who they accept into their ministry, so I'm not keen on that either.

I prefer Kris' idea where people can apply for everything they want to in one thread, or perhaps one forum where all the ministries have application threads, though LegComm and the Ministers should still be doing it separately.

Yes. The LegComm and the ministries should be doing it separately, however, this will allow folks to .
apply for legislatorship through ministry applications

The problem is with having a generalised application process through one channel is that ministry applications seem to ask extra questions. Generalising the applications may be difficult, unless ministries are willing to communicate, and a LegComm member is willing to direct this. I do endorse it, but it would be a major logistical challenge.

I think the issue here is that ministry and legislator applications are two different things with very different requirements. We can centralise their locations and make it easier to get both, but why should legislator applications go through ministry applications?

I think the best course of action would be to, in the Legislator Application, provide checkmarks for which ministries one would be interested in, and the LegComm could either forward that info onto the Minister, or point the applicant in the right direction - links/Ministers name/discord ID/etc. If I recall correctly, we used to do this not too long ago... but "not too long ago" could be 5 years to me at this point Tounge

It was at one point part of the application. I don’t know when it changed either. Or even WHY it changed :-(

Primarily it changed because the fellowship program did not keep up to date with the particular requirements and style of each ministry term, to the point where it became misleading rather than helpful.

I think, if we went back to it, we would need to have someone particularly in charge of the fellowship program or single application thread, working with the ministries, to ensure it is up to date and does what those ministries require of it.

I think that would be quite helpful. A centralised applications centre/thread would be good for involvement.

I think this is a cool idea, however, I do like having checkboxes for each ministry on Legislator applications better.
However, it would also be nice to have a checkbox on a Ministry application where if you want to be a legislator as well, a ministry LegComm member could do it for you with the Ministry application, rather than having to go to another thread.

I happen to like it and I would approve if it gets to the voting chamber

I shan't pursue this any further.
