Founded in 2003, the South Pacific Independent News Network (SPINN) is an independent news organisation whose goal is to provide good news, insightful commentary and timely information to all South Pacificans.

The SPINN is committed to providing quality content on a regular basis; this content will come in the form of a variety of publications aimed at keeping the public informed and also aimed at providing all South Pacificans with opportunities to share their views with others. The following publications comprise our repertoire:
  • Random Musings - commentaries from our Senior Editors and from Guest Contributors on a variety of issues of regional importance
  • Prompts - collections of views from citizens and legislators on the relevant issues of the day
  • Real News - news articles from our Correspondents about fringe topics
  • Election Coverage - interviews and coverage of regional elections
Please refer to our Media Repository for a full list of all our past publications.

Our Contributors

We publish most of our content using pseudonyms to keep the focus on the ideas within our publications, rather than the individual who proposes them. The one exception to this is Random Musings, where content submitted by Guest Contributors is published under their name unless they specifically ask to remain anonymous.

If you wish to become a Network Correspondent -that is, to write regularly for SPINN- or submit content as a Guest Contributor, please refer to our contribution guidelines for more information on the kind of content we accept and how to submit your writing.

Our Editorial Stance

SPINN is an independent news organisation that is not affiliated with the Government of the South Pacific. Content may be published that either supports or opposes government policies and officials, but said content does not necessarily represent the opinion of the Editorial Board. The opinion of the Editorial Board will only be conveyed in the form of editorials.

SPINN is committed to honest and factually correct journalism. If any content is inaccurate or misleading, please contact us through telegram on NationStates, through private message on the Regional Forum, or through direct message to SPINN#1907 on Discord to report the issue.

The South Pacific Independent News Network (SPINN) is not affiliated with the Government of the South Pacific and any opinions expressed in its publications are those of its authors unless otherwise stated.
