Issue XXX

It is the night of the presidential election in the USA. But let's be honest: Our roleplay is way more interesting, isn't it? At least we are not that divided. We are united in having our utopias and wanting to have fun in a safe and welcoming region. Of course we have debates, we even have wars and conflicts, but in the end there is no boiling blood standing between us. I hope for our American friends, that whoever wins this election, whoever represents you in the next four years on the local, state and federal level, that good debates are still possible, uniting different groups of people will still be possible and that we all will never lose hope, that not only this one country, but the entire world can become a better place.

Now let's take a look at what you can expect in this TIR-issue.

A new Age of Communications
Written on 03 November 2020 | Nation: Izaakia (@Izaakia)[/i]

The Izaakian Space Agency (ISA) gets a new lease of life after being re-founded this year in a huge turn-around of government policy which just one year ago mothballed the entire program. The new program has been rejuvenated by a new influx of private money from industry and extra government support with a new site launch at Cape Montacia in La Montagne. The Izaakian Government has taken up a huge task, to provide affordable communications globally through their new company CosmosNet.

Redeveloping reusable rocket prototypes that were mothballed last year, the ISA believes they can significantly reduce the costs of space travel to orbit. The so called “Pocket Rocket” is capable of carrying a small payload to geosynchronous orbit, before returning to landing sites in La Montagne. This reusability is expected to reduce costs by up to 10 times. Safety testing of the rocket is taking place as we speak and is believed to be progressing well, with an estimated completion date around Austral Midsommar.

Alexandria Estrella the new Izaakian Space Minister was asked for a comment on the new space project and she said: “It’s perhaps the most important space project to date, more important than landing on the moon or sending satellites to the outer solar system. This project will provide affordable access to the internet for billions of people across the globe, without physical infrastructure. It will allow sailors to video call home, children in developing countries to learn through the internet and help peaceful protesters to avoid government internet restrictions and censorship. This will be a game changer on a global scale in ways that we cannot even imagine yet providing new economic opportunities for the disadvantaged and on top of that, it will become economically sustainable giving value for money to Izaakian tax payers”.

Ground work on the project has already begun, new fibre optic cables between servers in Izaakia and the new secure global communications centre in Brödmark have started to be laid under the ocean, and the new construction on the new centre and university near Port Deception will begin following a groundbreaking ceremony by Empress Astrid next week.

So when can we expect this new revolution in technology? Well, the Izaakian Government expect the service it be rolled out in Izaakian Empire Territory by the end of March 2021, assuming the initial project goes well, Izaakia expects to reach 100% coverage of the Pacifica Region by early 2022, achieving global coverage by 2027. So is this a project too good to be true, or a true revolution in the way we live our lives? Only time will tell.

Parliamentary unity and another electoral reform
Source: GIN Online | Written on 19 October 2020 | Nation: GI-Land (@GI-Land)

Not even 24 hours have passed since the World Forum representative of GI-Land, Helene Meise, was able to message the ministry of foreign affairs, the chancellor, the King and Leader, and the parliament the breakthrough, which was made in the WF-Assembly in Grovne yesterday night.
With a bigger majority than expected, the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons has passed, and with that yet another Gianlucian initiative to work towards peace and stability on the globe we call our home.

Naturally when the members of the Königspalast sat together today in the morning, not all politicians were sharing this viewpoint. Especially the conservative KPHA advertised to keep the nuclear arsenal in the future, referring to threats to global security like Ryccia, Izaakia and the Bailtem Union.
"We are selling ourselves to the evils of this world. This treaty is treacherous and has the potential to make history as the treaty, which cremates and buries the Atlantic and Gianlucian peoples!", said a MP from Lindau.
Generally speaking this viewpoint was not popular to many others. Visibly in the end the ratification of the treaty and the decision to finally destruct all Gianlucian nuclear weapons and stop all aggressive nuclear programs was approved by the entirety of the parliament, except from the KPHA-fraction: 594 votes in favour, 56 votes against the proposed bill by the governing coalition, which "only" holds 399 seats in the parliament.

Another proposal, which was not met well by the fractions of the high house, was the coalition's suggestion to undergo another electoral reform before the "election year" 2021, where all three state parliaments as well as the new Königspalast will be voted upon.

OOC: RP-Overview
W
hat happened recently in our roleplay canons?"
This is a question, which arrived in our official TSP-RP-server - You should definitely join, if you haven't already - a few days ago, because one of our biggest roleplayers is back!
Let's welcome @Hammerstar and be happy, he is back with fresh new ideas!
But he is not the only one, who had new ideas: Izaakia also gave us an impression of how roleplays could look like in the future and how we could play them out faster. The inquiry, to which he has invited the nations of the world, took place because of the impending condemnation of his country. Of course this was not everyone's cup of tea, however it was worth a try and in my opinion it was a relatively successful event.
Another success was announced in FiHami. At the beginning of October a man became the high-priest in the matriarch society. Meanwhile Texeteti' becomes more and more crazy by the minute and another small war is probable to happen in North Cordilia. If this craziness is your thing, then "Sechssturm" might be a roleplay-event you really should follow more closely.
Minor updates were also added to the civil wars in Reizen, Valora and North Prarie. Next to that the World Forum did not only want to condemn a nation's regime (see above), but also decided on a nuclear weapon prohibition treaty and started to discuss small reforms to the framework of the organisation.

As for our Sci-Fi canon: It has become a little more quiet, maybe because the Treecu were in a mood to celebrate at home? Sadly no one exploited this holiday to attack the Treecu and show them, who's the boss. Maybe next time!
