Reorganization Suggestions

We discussed its possible future organisation a while ago, I think it boiled down to this:

I have made some very slight changes to the changes proposed by Belschaft, namely making Bantam Harbour the main canon section and renaming the non-canon section as Knowhere, at least until someone comes up with better name. With that in mind, and knowing that changes can still be made if needed, would there be any objections with me bringing this proposed structure up with Forum Administration?

TREASURE ISLAND
-- Tortuga (stuff like the election simulator, meta discussions and information for newcomers)
-- Bantam Harbour (canon roleplays)
---- Shipwreck Cove (diplomatic gatherings, national embassies and international organisations)
---- Message in a Bottle (national and international media)
---- The Plank (national data and factbooks)
---- Charts Repository (national and regional maps)
-- Knowhere (non-canon roleplays, including FT Pacifica roleplays and non-Pacifica roleplays)

This is the thread.

If this still has support we can try it out and "flesh out the rest as we move on" Smile

I've taken the liberty of implementing this. I tried to relocate as many threads as I could to their proper new subforums, but it's possible I may have missed some, so please do let me know if you catch any. :)

Okay so I must continue to ask this: why does SPINN have its own subforum when it hasn't published anything in more year, but SPN does not receive a subform?
Above all else, I hope to be a decent person.

Because SPINN is a decade old institution that dates back to practically the foundation of the region, and has been taken up by numerous TSPers over the years - it's possession of a subforum isn't relevant to the question of whether or not your newspaper should have one, as they're fundamentally different things.

Sometimes things have to change, if no one is going to take it up (and I don't see anyone doing it soon) it may be time to change
I am Zadiner/Zak. Part of Assembly, some other stuff, Founder of some other region.
Hey, I have a bunch of issues. You don't need to care.

One could say even slightly before the foundation of the Coalition, if you consider SPIN to be the same newspaper as SPINN.

Just out of curiosity, how long is it normally in-between people starting it and then abandoning it?

I don't think there's a normal amount of time. Some keep it active for years, some for months, some for a couple of issues, some don't even finish with one issue. SPINN can be managed by literally anyone from the region, so it all depends on who claims it and how dedicated they are.

On a personal note, I enjoyed the SPINN versions of late 2012-early 2013 and late 2013-early 2014. Those two were generally active and published interesting pieces, plus they had an active and inclusive staff. But nothing will ever surpass the Southern Journal interviewing Max Barry. Happywide

Okay so SPN has been continuously active for the past 7 months. So at what point can it receive the legitimacy of a subforum?

Like Belschaft said, SPINN has a subforum because of its historical role in regional media. There's no magical number of months being active or articles being posted that suddenly get you a subforum.

(Personally, I think the forum is already excessively divided with the latest reorganisation, so I'm not eager to create even more subforums.)
