It seems that after a year of waiting due to protests and strikes, I will finally be able to start university. Went there to confirm the start date (October 2nd), and to choose my classes/subjects.

By God the commute is hellish. Had to spend an hour waiting for a bus, and the thing ended up full. Had to make the 30 minute-long ride standing up, as every seat was full. Also, the Caracas metro-system is cheap, but overcrowded as hell. One of the trains I took had some malfunction in which only one of the doors opened, meaning that, as everyone was scrambling to exit, some idiot behind me (I'm using some self control to not call her something worse) pushed me hard, making me trip. Then the door closed without warning, with half of my body still inside (yes, it's exactly what you're picturing). When it finally opened and realized how close I had been to be cut in half, I flipped that idiot (and the rest of the train) the bird. Good stuff.

Yes, although only Caracas has one, if I remember correctly. Despite its shortcomings, it works pretty nicely, and it's a lot cheaper than using the bus.

Except, of course, when asshole rioters force the stations to close.

Actually having metro stations is arguably better than the complete and utter lack of public transportation here.

*sigh* I'm a mess. Hey bartender, your strongest wodka (Vodka is actually Polish), 96% ABV (Strongest in the whole world within legal restrictions) with some cherries, Lemon and extra ice. My assets have been banjected by the LC after I said some seriously dumb shit and this suitcase of goldbars is all I have left to my name <Takes out one goldbar>.

I'd wish there is a way to take them all back....

And about trains… in Singapore we basically can't get enough of metros, it naturally inflates property prices, costs less than the bus and in some cases, foreign investments come (French gave us trains, China gave us steel and Japan erm... how to draw the maps and automating the traffic I guess ?) and it secretly spies on youth (All people 5 to University are given a student bus/train pass / ID card which makes me suspect this is done cause of 9/11 and radicalized teens fleeing to ISIS. Not that I'm complaining about it, I barely have to spend half a dollar to go arond the island by bus or train)

I wander what did you do to warrant that. Eh, whatevs. Gold is gold. *Serves drink*

Also, official bar policy is calling it vodka, as this one's not made in Poland (even then, I doubt they can verifiably attest they invented it). It's the finest Karnetvorian vodka around!

Come visit me in SoCal. If ya catch a train from Frisco it'll turn an 8 hour drive into a lovely 12 hour trip.
