Abolish the Local Council

That's only a problem because far from being 'located on the forums,' our government has significant roles to fulfill outside of the forums as well, such as mass telegrams, endorsements, influence, and dispatches, just to name a few.

A lot of this disagreement seems to be semantics, not going to lie. I think it would be best to see different proposals for how to replace the current Local Council system, rather than arguing about how to frame the debate.

If others don't put them together, I will soon, RL and other NS obligations permitting.

Speaking of proposed changes to the system, I am curious what ideas people have in mind with respect to RMB moderation specifically since I don't think it's been touched upon much so far.

Or both groups could mutually work with each (e.g., discussions of expanding roleplay), though there needs to be an improvement in communication to avoid event mishaps (e.g., SwanVision and TSPride). If the MoC wanted to have more presence on the RMB, they can work with us, or if able to, direct their own activities, which I don't think the LC stops them from doing so.

I know you're clinging to the continued existence of the Local Council, but there is no convincing me of that. I have opposed its existence for years and will continue to do so until it is finally abolished.

In my opinion, having Local Council or any other organisation by whatever name called elected by the members of "gameside" will make it more inclusive in the governance. However, powers of RMB moderation should be removed from such organisation and given to few members appointed either by the Assembly, Prime Minister and their Cabinet or the Delegate which can be decided during this Great Council. This also reduces the workload of LC and helps them focus on engagement activities rather than moderation which is tiring and time-consuming. We can also have a member of LC in the cabinet who will be accountable for the actions of LC and to better co-ordinate the activities be it inter-region or intra-region.

MoC...who's that? Finna

I, however, disagree with dismantling the LC. In think itd be better to expand that section of our government. I think having a stronger section would potentially change your mind rather than the hamstrung lc we have at the moment.

How could expand on how would you imagine a “stronger” Local Council? Currently the law gives the Local Council plenary power to oversee the gameside community and run its affairs however it sees fit without interference from the Assembly, so I’m not sure how exactly you could one-up that.

And yet the assembly passed a notice that the LC wasn’t doing its job and should be abolished. So no, the LC are not and never have been able to exercise any sort of powers you ascribe to it.

It was a faulty design from the beginning. It should’ve been connected to the whole of TSP when it was created, and the assembly should’ve been tasked with writing the laws for the entire region. Now, because whoever was in charge at the creation of the LC, it’s limping along.

The best path from my viewpoint, is to tie the concept to the delegate, so the LC have someone to turn to for directions in tune with the rest of TSP. I prefer the idea of two members (appointed) who have charge of the gameside (with suitable powers) and a continued elected group who can run the events and interacting of the three regions, though one is run by one of the ministries.

The resolution to which you refer was quite literally due to the Local Council not doing much beyond moderation, so even the Assembly was going with the assumption that the Local Council had vast powers that were being left unused.
