Assembly-Cabinet discussion on conference attendance
#61

The attitude of the Assembly in regards to the Osiris-Lazarus war seems to be a fairly general desire to stay the he'll out. I trust that the Minister of Foreign Affairs will keep that in mind when dealing with this issue, considering his apparent desire to involve us in that clusterfuck?

The purpose of involving the Assembly was to let it be part of the decision-making process regarding this issue. It would make no sense to ignore it.

Edit: I misread and thought you were talking about the conferences. While I'm not saying that we won't listen to the Assembly, my above answer was specifically about our response to the conferences.

So I can take that as your personal assurance that all members of your cabinet will act in accordance to the expressed will of the Assembly?

As I said before, what TSP does about the war will be discussed at a later date. Talking to Lazarus about the war is going to happen within the next few days. Those are not the same thing.

Beyond issuing statements, there's nothing the Cabinet can do regarding war without an Assembly debate and vote.

Not to be patronizing but we can control the message here. I would really hope that we wouldn't just silently do this w/o a word as to why.

I wouldn't underestimate NS Gameplay's ability to believe what they want to believe, evidence to the contrary be damned.

I do not want war but I want to see action. If not war than stations we can not take this laying down if we let a region blackmail us and get away with we will seem weak and other regions will start blackmailing us or fighting us.

Europeia has made a demand of us and therefore I do not see why we should keep them as an ally. They have also hinted that if we do go to the Lazarus conferences there allies made attack us. Why on earth would we want an ally like this ?

I do think we should go to both conferences but we must also say to Europeia that if they make any demands of us in the future they will regret it.

Also as we have nothing to do with the Lazarus and Osiris war I also agree that we should not get involved but I also think we should not waste time discussing it as it has nothing to do with us.

I agree that this is the type of thing we *could* control the message on. A short and sweet post in our foreign embassies would allow us to get our narrative out ahead of any decisions.

Outside of this, it seems like our options are 1) attend both or b) attend neither. And, since one of the two conferences has begun -- with the assumption we're attending -- I suppose we should be attending both.

Going to both seems to be the position most of you are taking. Am I right in that?

Going to both but not participating in anything which at all looks like planning Lazarus war effort, preferably sitting the discussion on the war entirely out.

I would be fine with that. Should I assume that this includes refusing to host the Europeia conference?

A Lazarus representative made it clear on the NS Gameplay forums that "war planning" is not the purpose of the first 3 days of the conference. So that's not a problem.

Since going to Lazarus means ignoring the ultimatum, we definitely won't be co-hosting Europeia's conference.
