Legal Question (interpret the meaning and application of a law) Familiar Faces
#1

Gerald Daniel was, understandably, slightly afraid. He was late for his flight, he had gotten to shave, and he had barely gotten his clothes on. This was terrible for someone who was supposed to be the conductor of the new "Snowpiercer" line. The train itself was a beauty, or at least as beautiful as a bullet can look like. Gerald shrugged his concerns off though, when he learned that the first ride would be delayed and he would have time to adjust his outfit to look nicer.

Following his time in the bathroom, where he spent a bit just looking and posing for himself in the mirror, Gerald came out and was ready to service the train and it's occupants. He took out a card he would distribute to the train-riders when they began boarding.

Welcome aboard!
You have been hand-picked from our long list of veteran members
to ride with us on our inaugural ride of the Snowpiercer line!
Please accept our complementary beverage and food service,
You've earned it!

For a full list of services provided, please ask our conductor, Mr. Gerald Daniel.

Gerald scoffed to himself at the cards. "Management sure went crazy with these ones." he thought to himself, although he liked the fact that it had his name on it. He stacked the card on top of the small stack he held in his hand as he had just heard that the passengers were coming down the steps to the platform. He corrected his posture, and waited for the onslaught.

As he was approaching the train to board, he checked that his glasses were clean and squinted at his watch to check that the time was right. Fredu was holding his briefcase firmly, like he was too afraid to drop it, at the same time he visualized the trip. "I hope this is the right train" he thought and chuckled.

This is an ordinary man, boarding a beautiful train with such ragged clothes and grizzly face. With him is one of the largest backpacks one would ever encounter, and in his hand is an old book he's had many years ago. This man had spent most of his life travelling the world as a wonderer, he had enough in his bank account to finance his expeditions. With a ticket on his hand, he got on the train and got to his room, "a shower would be grand", he thought.

This man does not stand out in any way, a simple man with simple goals and simple interests.

Came a woman, with ten phones in her purse. She was a collector that caters to many clients from the high-end areas. She had recently bought a renaissance painting that was worth millions, and an ancient clock that was worth thousands. That's her job, she boarded the train to collect another item. The phones rang, she kept on answering them, completely focused on her work, her mind had took nothing else into account.

She gave the ticket to the conductor, and went to the dining car for something to eat.

John was an ordinary man, going to his job at the West Street Café. He often took the train to get there, and he also often took the train to the university where he studied finance.

Almost late, he rushed to the train. Thankfully, the train was not leaving yet. He bought a ticket, gave ticket to the conductor on entry, and, with a sigh of relief, he sat at one of the seats.

Hilding Karlsson boarded the train with considerable difficulty. Three years ago he had suffered a near-fatal heart attack, but he had somehow survived. Since then he had had trouble walking, in particular his left leg put up a good fight, feeling as if it was made of lead. With dizzy eyes and hands trembling from the effort of walking the platform, he found his seat and sat down clumsily. He was too proud to admit that he needed a cane. Why would he? He could still remember things as clearly as when he was 20.

Being an actor, he managed to form a warm smile and nodded as other passengers passed his seat.

After a long day of work the day before, Jonathon took a day off for the ride. Boarding the train, John said, "I just want to relax." In his mind, he could not stop thinking about how his personal life was in shambles. Now in the train, he took a seat. Meanwhile, Taylor Grey, who called her school to notify them that she will not be available for the day, boarded the train and sat next to John. The two said "hi" to each other.

Weighting 251 lbs and measuring 6 ft 1 in, the unnatural creature from time to time known as "The Chain Gang Commander", "The Champ", "The Cenation Leader", "The Face of the TSPWE", "Big Match John", "The Man Who Never Gives Up", "The Prototype", "Mr. P", and "Juan Cena" surveyed the train station like an ever-watchful statue. Originating from the forlorn nation of Ryccia, this lean, mean, killing machine had been the current TSPWE Champion for his fifth consecutive reign, an unstoppable force of nature, and his name was John Cena!

He really should have been more relaxed; he had been on vacation, after all. Still, Cena couldn't shake this weird feeling from his guts; something was going on - something big. Unnecessarily flexing his huge muscles, this beast of a man gave off a final grunt and silently headed for and boarded his train.

A man was gleefully examined the train's locks. He eagerly attempted to explain his excitement to confused passengers, but ultimately only left them more confused.

Tobias had been the engineer behind some obscure component of the locks on the train. He had been sent on his firm's ticket, presumably because none of his superiors had wanted it. Tobias on the other hand had enthusiastically accepted, and other than confusing his fellow passengers he had largely kept to himself.

A young man walked towards the train. Or was he moving away from the train? His facial expression expressed nothing short of dread, so it was quite easy to assume that his body was moving towards the train in the same measure as his heart moved away from it. He was closely followed by a middle-aged couple in formal clothes, who were talking loudly about all the luxuries in the train and the opportunities for fun their son would have.

"Oh come on Pat! It is a whole new train just for you, are you telling me you don't plan on having at least a small amount of fun?" she got closer and smiled "For me, baby?"

"Okay okay!" the kid said, exasperated "Just promise this is the last one" he said as he hopped on the train.

"Sure Pat." just as Patrick was about the close the train's door, she yelled "And bring me back a daughter in law, love!"

"Mom!"

Patrick Edwards sighed and closed the door. His parents. Could they be any less eccentric and extravagant? He just wanted to live a simple life, go out with his friends, study whatever he liked. They wanted him to drop his studies and get a job in the family business, whatever that was; nobody ever knew what the business was. They still treated him like the spoiled rich kid from kindergarten. And his mom! Jeez, you would think he was five years old by the way she treated him most of the time.

They had bought him a ticket on this freaking train for his bithday. He was planning on spending the night in with his friends, having pizza, beer and teasing each other. It was so simple, and suddenly they just barged in one day and told him he would be going on a train. No questions asked, no asking if he even wanted to go. They always assumed he wanted what they wanted. He only accepted because he made them promise that this would be the last time they tried to give him a present.

In the meantime, he might as well enjoy the ride. After all it was already paid, right?

Gerald looked up and down the platform. He saw a few people coming from in front the train down the walk, but they weren't exactly normal. Their clothes were tattered like knives, their faces smeared in what looks like coal and white dust, and their stench was that of a swamp. Alas, the group of 7 did not stay around long and went right up into the station building.

At this point, Gerald received a message from the engineers that it was time to get moving, and he yelled, "All aboard!"
