Foreign Minister Charles Boulangerie today announced that the Izaakian Embassy in Bersern will be closed for the duration of the conflict. Ambassador Dr Stella Blanc will withdraw to the consulate in Ostrovia away from the front line, where she will lead a skeleton staff to carry out emergency functions. All other functions and staff have been withdrawn to the Izaakian Embassy in GI Land.
He also advised all Izaakian citizens to leave Besern and Absolutan with immediate effect, emergency flights will leave from Ostrovia and other safe airports. The Foreign and Imperial Office also advises that under no circumstances should Izaakian Citizens approach the forces of Absolutan or Eareamland for assistance, or any other forces, except the Military of Besern.
Nobody Expects the Izaakian Inquisition
Prime minister Valkyrie Mountbatten has appointed the formidable Atticus Wolfgang, believed to be the former head of the still unconfirmed Izaakian Secret Services, as chief inquisitor in a campaign to stamp out corruption within the empire, particularly within the recently incorporated regions. He has been given considerable resources, and the legal rights to detain, issue warrants and seize assets. His suspected tenure at the Izaakian Secret Services is believed to have involved a significant increase in efficiency and remorseless purges, and whistleblowers from during his tenure nicknamed him the Ice Kraken for his ability to sink the careers of anyone who he deemed to not meet his high standards.
Prime Minister Barrett has appointed Roger Watts as Immigration Minister, Whitney Rodriguez as Minister of Extracartonic Cognition and Hugh Stevens as Minister of Progress in the Barrett II Administration.
Death of the King and Suspicions Rising
King Iannis III died in hospital from poison a few hours earlier. His state funeral will be held in a few weeks, and the inauguration of his son, Prince Iannis, shall happen this Sunday. Some suspicions are being placed on Prince Iannis for killing the King as ever since the new parliament reopened Proktethia to the world, the prince has been very vocal about his feelings and has criticised his father’s of being unsupportive of this change. Prince Iannis’s daughter, Princess Marietta has stated that the King and son have constantly been fighting over this, and that the Prince believed the King to be very incompetent and useless at his job, once even stating he was “A greedy old fart”.
Dr. Darrell Fuller and Dr. Bert Little have stepped down as Qaz Vice-Prime Ministers a month earlier than expected. Prime Minister Barrett implied this was not the last time we'd hear from them, however. Dr. Monica Ortiz has stayed on as the only current Qaz Vice-Prime Minister.
