[IC] - The Southern Gate Festival 2021
#3

It is the 30 January 2021, 20:14 h,  and we are watching the Gianlucian "BUS TV" channel, which will broadcast - in cooperation with Audit - the first ever Pacivision Song Contest, almost always only called Pacivision. It is organised by the Pacivision Executive Board (PEB) and is planned to happen every year from now on.
At the moment GI-Land is still watching the evening news, but after that the entirety of Pacifica, millions of households, will see the first song competition this globe has to offer.

"The next edition of BUS TV News will be broadcast after Pacivision at around midnight. I wish you a pleasant evening and much fun", the anchorman said before the outro of the news was played.

The outro was followed by the opening video for the contest. A young woman with curly dark blonde hair is running along the beach and harbour promenade of Südtor with a huge smile on her face. She takes looks to her left and right and sees more happy people everywhere as well as the stars moving with the rhythm the string players are setting. At 0:30 min we get a short glimpse on the string players, before she finally seems to have catched up with her friends, she meets at a park. They seem to discuss something until suddenly the camera swirls around at 1:00 min and we see different situations, where she and her friends are trying to convince people to follow them. On public places like in front of the Königspalast, in a university hall, in Südtors main station - everywhere. At 1:30 min everyone gets up and grabs a flag from weird places - from under the desk, behind some trash bins, out of the ocean, from a ticket machine - and follows them. The flags were from all kinds of countries, whether they are participating this year or not. GI-Land, Sedunn, Huawan, FiHami, Eareamland, Izaakia - actually virtually all countries were represented.
The masses followed the friends towards a venue in Südtor's Gianniwood, everyone is inside around two minutes into the video in and cheers on the string players we have seen earlier as well as some dancers and a DJ. At 2:22 min the camera focuses on the DJ and with the last "Dum-dum-dum" the Pacivision 2021 logo is shown to the audience.

After a whoosh-sound effect we are inside the Südtor Concert Arena with lots of people applauding and cheering in real life as the stage is lit up and a new song starts to play.
It is the instrumental of "Alles neu" by Peter Wolf, a famous Gianlucian artist, who is getting on stage and suddenly chiming in with his singing.
After the first chorus the first five countries and their countries are called up. The line is always the same: "Welcome [Country]", with the "Welcome" being said in the native language of the country that was called up. Before the artists were shown walking towards the backstage area via the stage, some choreographers were swinging light sticks in the colours of the countries' flags to create some sort of optical illusion:

The countries were called in the order of how they will appear throughout the competition:

01 - Besern
02 - Snolland
03 - New Itomorii
04 - Sedunn
05 - GI-Land
06 - Mauquibie
07 - Beepee
08 - Izaakia
09 - Eareamland

Then the hosts were welcomed and got onto the stage. It was a duo consisting of journalist Lukas Rahgen and actress Lisa Steinburg. "Good evening, Pacifica!"
They welcomed the audience and explained the concept of the competition before elaborating how to vote for songs in the competition.
There will be points from the audience of every participating country and every participant also has a jury, which ranks the other partaking countries in the categories "Best Performance", "Best Lyrics" and "Most Original".

When they were finished, they iconically said: "Let the Pacivision Song Contest BEGIN!"
Then the first so-called "postcard" was starting to roll. This is a video, which welcomes the next country on stage. This year it showed the artists having a photo shoot at different special locations in GI-Land.
Besern's Spigele was having her shoot at the "Democracy Park" in Gianlucastadt.
Before any the performance starts, there will always be the "stage ready"-sound:

Besern - Hofflicht (Light of Hope) by Spigele
Genre: Orchestral synth-pop/Musical
Language: Austral

Six artists, including Spigele and three from the Obraviastadt Polytechnic, are on stage. They perform, what they are singing about and are supported by cartoonish visuals in the LED-background. Sometimes a play of lights will emphasise certain lines of what could almost be considered a full musical.
The song of Besern exceeds the 5-minute-mark, which - according to the PEB - was only allowed, because a song coming later is far away from being 5 minutes or even 3 minutes long.

Snolland - Goodbye to Yesterday by Fada Rat & Lika Vahê
Genre: Pop
Language: Austral
Postcard Location: Old City of Französisch Ort

New Itomorii - POP/STARS by X/DA
Genre: Pop/EDM
Language: Austral/Korean

Postcard Location: Ship on the middle of the Atlantic Strait
Additional Information: OOC: Please start video at 0:40 min

Sedunn - Never wanted this to end by Illkrom Blenienn & Rila Jok
Genre: Folk-Pop
Language: Austral
Postcard Location: Freudstadt Harbour

GI-Land - Engin Miskunn (No Mercy) by Hater
Genre: Industrial/Electronic/Hardcore Punk
Language:
Old North Almannic
Postcard Location: Neptune's Mountain (highest peak in GI-Land)

A red ball signifying a meteorite is travelling from left to right throughout the performance, while the dancers copy their dance moves from the video.
The main vocalist is at the front near the audience and shouts out his message, always travelling over the stage to the dancers and back to the audience in the pauses, where he doesn't sing.
When it is the side vocalist's turn to sing, the camera focuses on the very front of the stage, where he hid the entire time in the dark. Now the lights are focused on him and he calls upon doomsday. At the climax he gets onto his knees and sings together with the main vocalists his last few lines before "dropping dead" just like the other dancers do too. The meteorite fades and the main vocalist looks victorious into the audience.
The drummer watches the spectacle the entire time from one of the bridges, but throughout the song he moves towards the main vocalist, kneeling on his side and looking up at him in the end, with his eyes full of hope.

Mauquibie - Et je pleure (And I cry) by Orang-Orang
Genre: Electro-Pop
Language: Mauquibian/Austral
Postcard Location: Downtown of Südtor

OOC: Song starts at 0:57 min

Beepee - Take my Heart with You by Florence Munthly
Genre: Pop
Language: Austral
Postcard Location: Atlantis Main Station (and partly on an underground train)

On stage is Florence Munthly in a red evening dress with a deep plunging neckline. She doesn't move or dance really. The stage light only brights her and her dress up, while she sings with lots of power and emotion.

Izaakia - Montacia Fall by Landing Emraldis
Genre: Electro-Pop
Language: Austral
Postcard Location: Area in front of the Königspalast

Additional Information: OOC: Please keep in mind, this song is satiristic and was performed prior to Izaakia quitting the referendum.

The artist and background singers/dancers are dressed in mock-up Izaakian military uniforms and black-white pictures of war combined with colourful pictures of Montacia in between make up the LED-screen show. In every chorus fire and sparkles are emitted. During the bridge inflatable tanks - on the left of Izaakia, on the right of Montacia - are warring each other by throwing soft balls at one another. Eventually the Montacian tank will collapse at the end of the song and the singer will mischieviously smile into the camera.

Eareamland - Overworld by Maple
Genre: 8-bit/Gaming Sound
Language: None
Postcard Location: Fish Market in Angelhaven

Lyrics: None
OOC: You need to message Maple to listen to the song.

Maple has a mask covering his face on. He gets on stage after the stage-ready-sound and presses a button on a keyboard, which will start the melody. He sways sarcastically with his hips throughout the entire song, before bowing down and leaving the stage again.

"Those were all songs for tonight! Now it's your time to vote and decide, who is the winner!"

To be continued...
