Welcome to the 2022 Football World Championships, the annual event from TSP-RP and now open to all canons.

We are happy to have you here, and we hope we'll have a good clean football match. This year's FWC hosts the largest pool of countries, with over 36 countries. The threads below is the opening ceremony, any information on stadium and group locations, links to calculations, etc. We'll start with the Women's FWC, hosted in Huawan and me as your gamemaster, continued with the Men's FWC hosted in Gi-Land with Gianni as your gamemaster

Groups (Female World Championships)

Rules

rules

Every team has a dice (IRL dice) that gets rolled for their games.
For the home team 1-3 means no goal, 4-6 means they score. To determine the number of goals the dice gets rolled another time. The number that got rolled is the number of goals, except a 6 got rolled. Then the dice gets rolled once again. If a 1 or 6 gets rolled, the team scored 6 goals, if 2 then 7 goals, 3 = 8 goals, 4 = 9 goals, 5 = 10 goals.

For the away team it's the opposite. 1-3 means there's a goal-getting scored, 4-6 means no goal. The way to determine the number of goals stays the same.

In the knockout stage, there's extra time, when after two halves the game is at a draw. Each ET half gets rolled too, but now 1-4 means no goal and 5-6 means goal in the first half and 1-2 = goal and 3-6 = no goal respectively in the second half. 

If the game should still be a draw after 120 minutes, there'll be a penalty shootout. Each shot gets a dice roll. For all odd shots of the home team and all even shots for the away team applies the following rule: 1-3 = no goal, 4-6 = goal. It's the other way around for all even shots of the home team and all odd shots for the away team.

Opening

Lotus Royal Stadium of Huawan, Lian

Settling around for the opening ceremony in the summer afternoon, the clouds aren't abundant and the birds chirped as they entered back to their nests. The winds passed through the lights that projected to the skies, inviting those with tickets to enter. IUFA officials, football teams, tourists. Everything had to be perfect, the stakes are high for Huawan, and The South Pacific itself. Everytime the championships start, another legend is written.


The drums marked the first part of the opening. those who attended never forgot the way their entire soul vibrated and how strong they felt the beat hit. It's almost literally breathtaking when that power smacks into them. Certainly a sound that echoed all around the stadium, a solemn bang of the drums, marking a humble yet momentous start to the Football World Championships.


The lights began to shine once more, this time at the woman on the stage, a soloist and singer who sung the Peonic anthem in deep focus and mellow. Warming the hearts of those who came, and welcoming the visitors in Peonic soil, in Peonic land. Once fought for and built on with blood and toil, now lush with fertility and welfare.


....and at that moment, all the lights shone. The official opening begun, opened by the Arnchow singer, Yakisoba. Who sang a music about fighting what's right, to overcome the wrongs of the current world and to fight the challenges laid beyond. A way to begin the year after all the craziness of the ones before, to pave a newer path for greatness.


The performance then was continued by Myrian Artist "UmbralOrchid", which was a song about the summer and the friendship that were made in between. Some that were lost due to the darkness, but then mended and blossom upon the summer heat. Getting people together in one place, to celebrate football, and The South Pacific.


The performance was continued by Montacian rapper, MarsBar, who sang the rap to continue to strike and to work harder and push the boundaries of possibility. A message important in the 2022 Football World Championships, to show that there is always a ceiling to go through, and a wall to bring down. It's not over, until the bones collapse.


Another performance was made by Techganet singer, Rise In Men, which marks the signature of the FWC since a century ago. In which every event would make history, it'll be remembered, it'll be written. For there was a time when the entire region united for football.


The final performance was the anthem of the 2022 Female World Football Championship, sung by Pop Star Aoi Eiru from Huawan. The song depicts the sheer excitement of a fusion between cultures in combatting the troubles and the challenges that led beyond, and that one must never rest on their laurels on the path to greatness. The journey to greatness shall never end.

The dragons started to come out, one by one, crowding and going around the stadium. Festivities begun, the drums banged and the music crowded around the stadium. It was energizing, it shocked the soul, giving it hope and anticipation like it never before. The dragons moved as the dancers extended their ribbons with poise, as if attached to their limbs.



What a welcome, what a ceremony, what a way to begin the football world championships. It would end in a few words, from a figure that stood out of the stage, a graceful woman, who shouldered the world and now was proud to be Huawan's hand in one of the most prestigious events in The South Pacific, who managed to pull off a sports hoodie and long sports pants with soccer shoes, rather than the usual dress. Silence, and The Peony of Huawan begun.


"Every year, millions in the world stay awake. They stay awake to watch the drama of Football World Cup. The kick off begins a series of passes, dribbles, free kicks, throw-ins, tackles gentle and wild, headers, and finally Goal!" The Peony exclaimed, with energy yet composure, "In these 90 minutes of play legends are born, they are great exponents of total football, leaders with charisma and influence and the ability to entertain at the highest level of the game. All the hard work, all the sacrifices you have made, it all comes down to these 90 minutes. I know not, of the weaker team, or the stronger team, but mark our words. For the day when we step on the field we FIGHT. We fight for ourselves and WE FIGHT for each other! It’s now or never, show the world WHO …. YOU … ARE! My friends, my neighbors of The South Pacific, welcome! To Huawan!"

The Peony's podium lowered back to the stage, and as she walked down to the grassy field. She was thrown a ball, and the lights shone to the goal. It was imperative she did not embarrass. She did some kick-ups, like she did 3 years ago in the promo, and with it, she kicked the ball hard to the goal.


The ball bounced to the net, and the fireworks exploded up.


"LET THE FOOTBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS BEGIN!" she shouted, and indeed, it shall begin, with thunderous cheer.

Record Number of Participant Countries
In the 2022 Football World Championships saw the largest number of participating countries in the championships, with over 36 participants competing for both the Female and the Male football world championships. The 2022 Football World Championships also saw the highest number of attendants, with over 3.5 million tickets sold. The championships is also available in various streaming services.

Heightened Security
With the recent 2020 Football World Championships marked with the terrorist attacks in Gi-Land, there is heightened security for the World Championships in 2022. GID-20 vaccinations are also required before entry to Huawan to prevent the spread of disease.

RIM Suspension from 2022
Following the terrorist attacks in the 2020 Football World Championships in Gi-Land, the Reizen Republic team has been penalized and suspended for this year's championships. "We do not tolerate any terrorism in any shape or form, the Football World Championships is not a place for political schisms between international powers, we must shift more emphasis to proper football, and collaboration." said Peonic Football Association President Zheng Ameen, who was the chairman of the 2022 Women's Football World Championships

Alcohol sold out, proper etiquette forced
The Football World Championships saw the sale of alcoholic beverages increase, causing some shops in cities like XinYue, Kimokawa and Shuang-He to run out of alcohol. "Any public disorder due to alcoholic intoxication will be punished severely" according to the Huawan Police Department. There is also a crackdown of the consumption of drugs above healthcare necessities.

IC Rules

So this area is where you could present any news or information pertaining, or any roleplay you guys would like to do about the Football World Championships. It could be a feature of the newest football jerseys, any pep talks/discussions, interviews, etc. It is not mandatory, but you are encouraged.

Any actions pertaining the entirety of the championships (terrorist attacks, riots, etc) should be consulted with me first via the OOC threads. If however your fans would, say, clash with a fan of another player, you should first ask such player first thru the OOC by tagging them, or through the discord servers.

The rolls for every match will be held in every two days (Hopefully), every participant will also be tagged every time the match results are posted. As such, in accordance to the groups, there'll be 22 matchday posts.

Miki Fushimi (MF): The entry for the Milkyway Republic in the Football World Championships is remarkable with a 4-1 crushing defeat for the Ikoanians. Milkyway players has to keep its momentum while the Ikoanians would need to regroup quickly for its next match with Rebeltopia.

Schmidty (SC): A massive defeat for the Patteverian girls against the Valkyrians, their defense certainly crumbled with a hattrick from the Valkyrian strikers. But it's still too early to decide the play of the game, Pattevere must regroup its defensive positions for the next matches.

MF: Group 2 followers are looking forward with the Kai Fa team, whether or not they are able to provide a similarly amazing performance like last year.

FL: What do you think of this match Schmidty?

SC: Frost is the group favourite for group 3, so it's surprising that the Besernian team managed to overpower them. Something certainly happened in halftime, which caused the Besernians to turn the tide and attain 4 goals

FL: The Besernians spirits need to continue alight if they're to dominate group 3

SC: I agree, if both of the teams were to secure a position in the knockouts. They must attempt to take larger risks in the field.

SCH: It was certainly an embarrassing start for the Brodlancians in the first matchday against the Esfalsans

MF: Esfalsa had a rougher time in the previous games, and the women are coming back with a vengeance, completely steamrolling the Brodlancian defensive positions. Brodlancia seriously needs to regroup.

match analysis

MF: What a seesaw of a match between UPRAN and Bruuma. The two teams were very evenly matched

SCH: Had it not been the penalty goal by UPRAN, they would only be satisfied with a draw in the end. The goal certainly gave an edge to the Bruumans

MF: The UPRAN in the Women's FWC have certainly given the crowd something to cheer on in the next phase.

MF: Group 6 is perhaps an interesting field to be discussed

SCH: The Transsunerians had an excellent offensive position against Emerald and hit three goals at them. However they equally had a weaker defence, which caused the Emerald players to tip the scales, they're only saved by the time

MF: Both teams needed to figure out their defensive positions if they are to face Techganet and group favourite Huawan later on. We'll see the results

SCH: The Qaz are able to strike quickly and maintain their defensive positions against the Hystaigans, Hystaiga needs to come up with a new stratagem in order to beat the other teams in the group

MF: Puerto Pollo had a strong performance against Sallodesia, Puerto Pollo are currently the group favourites in group 8, especially with their performance in the 2019th WFWC

SCH : Their performance beforehand against the Frost Empire two years ago was certainly one of the history books, and it now shows with their steamrolling of the Sallodesian defensive. It's definitely interesting to see their performance

match analysis

MF: Group 9 started with newcomer Arnchow and group favorite Stoinia. It was surprising to see Arnchow dominating the first game with over 7 goals against Stoinia's 3

SCH: Group 9 has many strong teams with both Gi-Land and Doge-Land playing for the group, so this group si definitely interesting to watch. Arnchow's performance against Stoinia is the proof of that.

MF: It's an amazing performance for both teams, equally, both teams do not have time to rest their laurels

Press Conference

Notable excerpts from the Jan 24th post-match press conference with the TMR Women's Squad manager, Caitlin Abercromby, regarding how the team is looking to head into the tournament, discussion about the first match, and how they plan to move forward.

On heading into the tournament...
"We plan to go into this like any other event, me and the girls know we have to stay calm in these sort of situations, avoid letting the nerve get to you and all that. That isn't to say we're not excited, we're honoured to be here and we'll be doing everything we can to go out their and play some quality football."

On how far the team can make it...
"I definitely feel like I've got a team that has the ability, has the talent to go out there and win it. However, anything can happen in a tournament like this so there are never any guarantees about placement at the end of the day. Before we start thinking about the later stages of the tournament, we need to focus on securing a winning position in the group stage above all else."

On injuries...
"Of course I was planning on bringing up Perry to the team but her recent injury has made her unavailable. It's a loss to the squad for sure but we have to push on regardless. Livermore has stepped up to fill the gap in the squad and so far I've been happy with her performance on the pitch."

On the match against Ikoania...
 "Starting the tournament with a victory has definitely gone a long way to boost the team's confidence. We're heading into this competition as newcomers and securing this win has allowed us to show the other teams that we're a threat that shouldn't be taken lightly. Of course, full respect to the Ikoanian team, both sides played excellent football but unfortunately for them we were able to get the upper hand and took the chances that we were given."

On woman of the match...
"I'd have to say Vernazza. 1 goal and 2 assists is obviously nothing to be overlooked and the work rate that was output by her was astonishing. She kept the play flowing smoothly, perfectly linked up the midfield to our attack and was always eager to gain back possession when it was lost. Couldn't ask for more."

On how the team plans to move forward...
"I believe I briefly touched on this earlier but the win today has definitely allowed us to establish ourselves in this prestigious competition. I'm hoping that the girls will look at the result today and ride the momentum forward into the oncoming matches. If we can play every game like we did today, I have no doubts that we'll be able to get out of the group stages."
